Barring several months in the middle of this period when Vijay Singh overtook him he was number 1 from 1999 to 2010. |

Taylor has been number one for roughly that time but certainly hasn't had to starve himself for 365 days a year, break every bone in his body, do something very dangerous, be followed by an ambulance every moment of his professional career and shift all over the country every day. All of his choosing and for which he was very very well paid, it doesn't make him MORE deserving though.
Plus the royals love their horses and horsey sports so he was always onto a winner if you'll excuse the pun. |

Does anyone actually care about this stuff? The occasional crumb thrown from the top table of the aristocratic elite to appease the masses, does not disguise the inequities of the honours system - it's cronyism of the worst kind and should be consigned to the history books.
