Tough hard non compromising fast game.
Leeds v Wigan has a lot to live up to, but at least it will beat the other thing going in Manchester that night no matter what.

thurston actually had a pretty mixed game up until that last moment. got caught in possession a few times and lost the ball that led to brisbane's second try, as well as some pretty good stuff too

TBF he's bound to get caught in possession a bit when everything is going through him. I'd put them more down to good defensive play.

They're two of my favourite NRL sides but I wanted a Cowboy win for Thurston (and the fact that it's the 20th anniversary of the cowboys). Would also have been happy to see a Broncos win to crown Bennett's return

The main reason there were not many penalties is because the referee mostly ignored the infringements. There was plenty of messing about at the PTB, particularly from the Cowboys that was simply ignored.

The offside is far better policed and the players more disciplined than over here.

That said, wow, what a game and what a finish. If our GF is half as good as that we are in for a treat next week. I can't help but have respect for Thurston. What a player and what a person too. The way he went to every Broncos player, especially Hunt after the game was good to see.

Thurston was not the best player on the field. He was not fully fit. Brisbane's five eighth Anthony Milford, Cowboys five eighth Michael Morgan, and Cowboys hooker Jake Granville were much better performers on the night. Thurston won the Clive Churchill award for 10 years of outstanding performances.

Thurston once again showed great sportsmanship when he approached and consoled both Brisbane's captain Justin Hodges and Brisbane half back Ben Hunt.

It was not the best game that I have ever seen, and not even the greatest Grand Final. Try watching the 1989 Grand Final between Canberra and Balmain before you leap to any historical conclusions. The 2015 Grand Final was a mixed bag. The first half was very exciting. The second half was mostly dull. It was the incredible ending that made the game memorable.

North Queensland and Brisbane served up a feast of rugby league. I hope that it is released on video as a Blu Ray because it was filmed and broadcast in High Definition --- something that Channel 9 has not done previously.

We need to also have the Super League Grand final in Blu Ray, and the same with State of Origin, and all internationals involving Australia, New Zealand, England and France.
