Yes he is trained up enough to know the right and wrong but unfortunately if you're a player and you see a younger bloke in the middle of the field then regardless of his "superior" role you'll take him on and chance your arm and challenge him to overpower you?
The forward pass IMO is on the touchie's head and he should be the one making the call rather than the ref.
'"
Similar thoughts, but perhaps say that referees are getting weaker and weaker whilst the players are getting stronger and stronger trying to "work and play" the referee.
Too much pressure these days from players, the ruck area is a mess, no respect on 50/50 calls. Perhaps we should have a " ZERO TOLERANCE OFFICIATING WEEKEND" where the refs blow the whistle with every offside, forward looking pass, interference, incorrect scrum down, talk back etc, we would probably get between 30 to 40 penalties a game, then we can start moaning that the game is not allowed to flow.

cummings gets things wrong every week on sky. you may be right but don't involve him. his credibility is zero

shaun wane said that. and nothing happened. I think bent tw*t was the phrase used

| Definitely swings and roundabouts. Cas were screwed out of a perfectly good try in France in a 13-12 defeat. Not enough cameras to prove solomona wasn't offside or some lack....(he wasn't). They get their fair share of decisions at home. Just don't have the mental toughness a way from home and this outburst is a fair representation. Exceptionally lucky they will finish 8th where they will end there too.

| Quote: headhunter "Why? The official literally cheated in the Salford match, he applied a rule that doesn't exist any more, he might as well have started allowing unlimited tackles or awarding three points for a try. I also believe that the final play-off match last season against St Helens was a deliberate sabotage by the referee, there's no way such a number of calls in a big game would go against one team. The first half of the cup tie vs Hull KR a few weeks ago was also debatable in terms of the integrity of the official.'"
The rule does still apply, the fact that you would prefer it if the rule didn't apply doesn't change that. A 30-12 scoreline was because of the referee? I'd say it's more reflective of the difference between a team that finished 1st and a team that finished 7th. In any other game, Sky's constant attempts to create controversy with regards to referee decisions are seen as such, but because it's Catalans in a semi final, they're valid? Where were these sabotage attempts in the previous two weeks, where you knocked out Huddersfield and Leeds? Given Leeds probably guarantee the biggest Grand Final crowd, you'd think the RFL would have kept them in the play offs at your expense if they were in the business of choosing winners.

| I don't think Mr Gausch should be throwing around accusations like that (though id accept something could be lost in translation), and i'd certainly agree its almost certainly incompetence rather than corruption,
However, the decision in the Salford game was a terrible one, and not one I have seen given since, and a huge amount of plays end with the player moving off the mark and there have been many very similar decision that have gone different ways.
You can make a justification for most decisions. It doesn't mean they arent wrong, or that they arent very wrong. A good example would be the leeds try last weekend against Wigan, and the try Huddersfield scored against Leeds. Arguments can be made either way for both. But it is poor officiating that leaves us with one given and one not.
That is what seems to me to happen a lot to Les Catalans, there can be arguments made to justify the refs decisions, but there seems to be a lot of those types of decisions going against Les Catalans that arent going against other sides. They seem to be on the tough end of a lot of calls.

| Widnes were on the wrong end of a terrible decision at Wigan on Friday where a player was a mile offside chasing a kick and they scored from it.
Sometimes things don't go your way, sometimes they do, you just have to accept that and get on with it.

You just fail to realise that their's a difference between a player being tackled and a player being held.
The 'go back and PTB' was introduced for guys who tried offloading just as held was called. This happens in incidents when the ball carrier will still be on his feet but his momentum has been stopped. It wasn't introduced for players who are clearly tackled on the floor with a defender on his back to pop up and run off. (If he threw the ball when on the ground to a teammate he'd be pinged for passing off the floor so why shouldn't he be pinged for running off after tackled?)

| everyone gets bad calls from the ref, it happens.
However for Bernard to get so angry over this shows that it has been happening for years now and there is a sense of paranoia surrounding the club.
We sat in the stands at the magic weekend thinking of the best possible way for the ref to get Huddersfield back in the match, we have become that cynical.
So it could be all our fault, all the officials or somewhere in the middle.
With all of Dragons home matches being on Sky, the neutral will naturally see plenty of decisions go our way.

| This isn't the first time either. I remember Guasch levelling similar allegations of bias and corruption against the RFL a couple of years ago, backed up by the coach at the time Trent Robinson having a whinge about it. Brian McDermott then pointed out how many penalties the Dragons get at home due to the crowd, and got fined as a result.
The RFL are so petrified that Guasch will cut and run, leaving them without a SL club outside the M62 corridor, that he seems to have licence to say whatever he wants about whoever he wants without censure. He's accused match officials and those who run the game of being corrupt. He should be facing a heavy fine and a ban from the game. Won't happen though, he's got the RFL over a barrel and he knows it.

Sometimes though, the mistakes are so obvious that you end up questioning how a supposed professional could make them. I agree that a borderline forward can easily be missed but some are so bad it's either complete incompetence or turning a blind eye in certain circumstances. The one that always baffles me is the Chris Green winner at Magic, how on earth did the match official miss it in the first place, then two linesmen missed it only for the video ref to blatantly ignore the fact he was 3m offside at the kick, even though he watched it several times over two minutes. Can this really be put down to an 'error'
