| I don’t like this interviewing the players as they warm up malarkey.
After the game, fair enough, but as a player trying to get in “The Zone” only to be confronted by Big Eorl, that must be highly irritating.
Then, when he finally gets to speak to some poor sap, well on the whole, their hardly the greatest of orator’s are they?

The hair and stubble is probably why they got him on in the first place for the female viewers. Much like Jamie Redknapp on Sky, it can't be because of his punditry that they have him on so often.

| Sims comes across surprisingly well - perhaps because he doesn't try to be anything other than who he is; seems to be a decent, humble bloke with a genuine passion for the game.
They just need to get him some new clobber - don't know what it is with the Antipods, but much like Nathan Brown, he seems to be wearing a suit and shirt that he bought in the 1980's.

He probably hasn't been on a bunch of media training days and so just sat there and was himself and it worked fine.
Eorl - trying to be a pundit, rubbish
Sims - just being himself, good

| Quote: PopTart "Why does their position make a difference to how they sound on tv?'"
Because halves are the ones who make decisions the most, direct the teams, follow the coaches gameplan and so on, more than other positions. As a result, they can often give better insight into what's happening tactically on the pitch. Off the top of my head, these are the halves commentating in Aus: Johns, Fittler, Lockyer, Wally Lewis, Peter Sterling, Brett Finch. This is generally because they can provide better analysis than the likes of a prop who has a role of just carrying the ball forward and tackling for 80 minutes.

I see the merits of having one prop pundit and one HB/back pundit but suppose it a question of who to do it and will they come across well.
One thing they get right is having current players/coaches involved with Peacock, Wilkin, Crabtree, Sims, Noble and Kear. They do let it down with having Jonathan Davies though. I wonder how much he actually closely follows the RL until he arrives for CC weekends or spends most his time following the RU. I think their should be a lifespan for a pundit that he shouldn't have gone for so long since he last played/coached the game as they end up often talking like the game is still played the same way as when they were last involved.

Sims was excellent but, did he borrow that suit from one of the cast members in Pulp Fiction

| Can't abide Crabtree as a pundit, especially annoying yesterday was him continually bringing up his own views made before the game throughtout the match with 'i believe somebody said..' yeah we heard you the first time mate. loves the sound of his own voice. Wilkin is equally annoying but at least he has the knowledge behind it and talks a bit of sense.
Simms was brilliant, complementary and respectful to both teams on show, and came across as a likeable but knowledgeable bloke who loves his rugby. love to see him on the beeb again.

| Once you start Eorl its difficult to stop him. He went on far too long but I didn't have a problem with him generally.
Must admit I wasn't a fan of Sims until yesterday. Came across very well, despite the Harry Hill shirt, and the miked up bit from Saturday's game showed him in a great light. More of him on the beeb coverage please.

I thought so too - the way he spoke to the Leigh players after the game was particularly impressive; whether that was for the benefit of the mic I don't know, but he certainly came across as a thoroughly decent chap.

Someone needs to tell him to stop dipping into Harry Hill's wardrobe.

| No idea why anyone would complain about Crabtree when we have to listen to Barrie and Terry every week on Sky.

| It seemed like Crabtree thought he needed to say a lot to justify him being part of the commentry team.
You got that with Cullen, he'd realise he'd not said anything for 10 minutes so spend 30 seconds saying something he could have done in 10.

| I think Eorl's problem is he's too enthusiastic at times which comes across as a bad way, i'm sure with more experience etc he will improve.
