I actually think the Aussies will fancy their chances this weekend. They are slight favourites with the bookies 1.75 as opposed to 2.05 for the Kiwis and if I'm honest, I've been pretty unimpressed with the Kiwis in the last 2 games and the weathers looking like a bit of a leveler too!
Still...it's International Rugby League and it's on in my home town! Bring it on.... |

I don't think anyone's surprised we came 3rd, we usually do! Aren't you a little embarrassed that you only beat a side that haven't won anything since Jesus was in primary school by 2 points, seeing as you Kiwi's are so great and all that?

Here I was thinking NZers were a step up on Aussies on this kind of thing. Seems 4 wins in 20 against them has elevated you to their level of arrogance now.
I think very few of us expected to make the final but we had a good young side capable of making it and after last years WC semi-final performance we knew we weren't far off (SBW negating Sam's departure).
On reflection, it was very frustrating to be denied a try where our players hand is on the ball while the ball is on the ground. The explanation of the decision (the ball was rising) only fueled that frustration as it's completely illegitimate. We should have drawn that game (and possibly won with Widdop's kicking that day).
Against NZ we went within 2 and again, due to the dynamics of the points differential, which Gutters seems to have dismissed, (likely) would have drawn by taking the penalty goal at the end.
And we beat Samoa by more than NZ in tough conditions.
All in all a positive but ultimately unsuccessful tournament that would leave anyone a little bitter.
Still, enjoy your final.

'Pommie' isn't really meant as an insult. Having been to Australia and NZ, it's just a nickname our cousins from Down Under give to the English. |

Will thanks. I think the AussIes will win BTW......they have got better as the tournament has gone on whilst the Kiwis have been awful.

No need for translation, I didn't think Kiwi's were as arrogant as aussies given their and relationship with Australia. In fact many of the kiwi's I have met travelling speak of their dislike for Australians in general. The post surprised me.

You miss the completely with the points difference remark. The point was we were the equal of NZ in that game and should points difference have been of no consequences in that game, we'd have taken the two. You seemed to think winning by 2 was down to your superiority. It was down to the PD. Widdop may have missed of course.
RE: Samoa. We weren't as bad as the original post suggests. That's what.
I have no talk of RLWC glory to "temper".
Bitter over the no try yes. How could you not be? I'd worry if I wasn't.
