| yeah I mean surely if your going to get injected with something you would ask to see if its legal and you would also look to see what's in it to make sure wouldn't you?

I got an injection from my doctor a few months back, he said it was a flu jab. I presume it was, he's a professional, qualified person, employed for his expertise and in a position of trust, so I took it on faith that it was a flu jab and didn't look to see what was in it or if it was legal.

“That’s all they are, rumours,” McDermott said.
“At no stage has our club or the RFL had any contact, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) haven’t contacted the player. Paul is not even part of the investigation. It’s just reports in a newspaper.
“Paul’s getting ready for a game, we’re getting ready for a game.”

| Quote: Kelvin's Ferret "The story seems to be that some players were unknowingly given supplements containing banned substances by an expert employed by their club in 2011. However, none of them have actually failed a drugs test. So the evidence is entirely circumstantial, there appears to be no hard evidence. Obviously some players are feeling pressured by the NRL and their clubs to take the soft bans to put an end to the issue, but I don't see how this would stand up in court if they refused?'"
ASADA/WADA are not coming out of this very well. After the highly politicised original announcement ,
with national politicians in the background, the whole story went quiet just when we wanted evidence. Now there seems so little evidence that they are willing to make deals. Any player can easily say that they had no knowledge of wrong doing because they trusted a doctor who was expected to work within the laws. I cannot see anything but benefit of the doubt if the courts get involved.
On an only distantly related note WADA chose not to take action against former East German sports stars despite being handed boxes full of notebooks with detailed doping information for identifiable individuals. Although not named the information was in the format that x took y drug and broke world record today. Some of those records still stand.
If they were certain about the NRL why should they not be demanding the two years? They cannot be seen to treat cases differently or surely Rhys Pugsley could ask for a reduced sentence on the grounds of stupidity.

The issue is not performance enhancing in totality, otherwise pasta would be banned, but illegal performance enhancing substances. That is a judgement call by the powers not the individual. New substances and practices have to be banned before they are illegal. On school of thought is that if a player is liable for any substance in their system why not allow all substances an make the player the ultimate arbiter. I am not in favour of that for a lot of boring reasons but the readers of Spiked magazine possibly would be.

What a bloody joke. They get ONE year, backdated. This country is a joke, when it comes to doing something about their sportspeople who end up being cheats!!!
Let's see if they update their Sanctions page. Though I can't help but notice that the RL players who have been done for steroids all got two years. (3 months for cannabis). So why have this lot got one?
Well if this country is a joke, leave, its that simple.
We dont know much facts about this investigation, but dont let that stop you. You say Gallen is a drug cheat, yet we have never heard that he has failed a drugs test. The only fact we know, is this investigation is a joke, well over a year after the 'Blackest day in Australian sport' is this is were we are. Clearly ASADA do not have enough evidence and this deal is a way of forcing players to essentially 'admit' their guilt. Whats the point in fighting a few game ban when the alternative could be months in court and costly legals bills. Theres only a few including Gallen who will really lose out.
We simply dont know which players if any, knew anything. You are kiddying yourself if you really think a player is going to question a qualified sports scientist. Off course you would trust them and your clubs supplement programme, why would you? Are you seriously expecting every player to question ever supplement/injection they are given???? So when the doctor/sports scientist says its fine, do you take it then???? The people who run these programmes and the club themselves are responsible for all of this.
It annoys me how the common denominator in all of this will continue to get away with it. No doubt some idiots will still employ Stephen Dank.

| So if it comes out that Aiton is actually banned and does play in the final, will the RFL end up in a situation where they will have to hand Cas the cup by default due to Leeds playing an ineligible player regardless of the result?
That would be a PR nightmare, to say the least. Hopefully nothing like that over shadows the game.

Most stupid post in a long time. Really crap troll.
GH and now Mac have both stated (one more time for the trolls) the player, the club and the RFL have not had any contact from ASADA or WADA and Aiton is not a part of the investigation. He hasn't been issued with a notice.
So how you get Leeds being stripped of the cup from that says you are daft as a brush.
