| To me he's a bit like SL's answer to Jason Nightingale. Solid in most areas, with the added bonus of being a world class finisher. He's still behind Hall, and Briscoe IMO, and I'd have him behind Charnley, and Lineham if they can get fit and regain form.

This is the thing. I agree he is behind those three. But sometimes fans will go down the line of anything less than being in the top 2 is a failure. So anyone hyped up who are not the first choice is deemed as being rediculous.
Where as actually it's good to have a range of choices at the very least it makes the best players even better as they have to up their game to hold onto that position.

A few years ago you could have said that about any of our back positions though.

Sutcliffe, Powell, Williams, Charnock, Hewitt all highly rated by their respective clubs (the usual suspects for youth development) - then there's a halfback at hull whose very highly rated on their board HTW(I think?) (but the last time they said that turned into Richard Horne, so read into that as you will) and if he ever gets any decent coaching I think mike Bishay at London has a lot of potential.
Of course how much time and development these guys gets depends entirely on the success of the new league structure ... Nothing stops a kids development like panic buying and not playing.

| Harry Tyson Wilson at Hull will be England's half back in years to come. He's going to be brilliant!

| thinking about it Makinson finishing would be a massive asset against the aussies because its very rare does a winger break away for a long distance try.

| He's a good player, in good form. But form is tempura class is permanent. Hall, briscoe and charnley have been doing it for years. And briscoe is only a year older than makinson and been a top player for years. Hall has scored more try's this year in less games. Briscoe and hall particulery are also very strong and dangerous coming away from there own line. Makinson is not.

You sure about that?
Makinson - 12 tries in 10 SL games and 2 tries in 1 CC game. Total - 14 tries in 11 games.
Hall - 10 tries in 9 SL games and 2 tries in 1 CC game. Total - 12 tries in 10 games.

| Makinsons a good player, good to watch. Not in the top tier of wingers in this country in my opinion, but a good player none the less.

Plus Hall scored 3 against the mighty London, who we haven't played yet, and another hat-trick against the in-form Bradford Bulls . . . . .
That's not to say Makinson is better than Hall, just that I think Makinson's tries haven't been on a plate against the easy beats so far this season - he is playing very well indeed.
Needs to carry on current form to even have a sniff of international honours though, as pointed out there are players in front of him in Hall, Briscoe, Charnley and perhaps others too.

| I'd agree Hall and Briscoe are currently in front of him but the Josh Charnley of 2014 is certainly not.

| I wasn't sold on him in his first couple of seasons, but he seems to have really come on. That said, his finishing is really good, but the rest of his game isn't anywhere near the standard of guys like Hall or Briscoe yet. He is another to add a growing list of exciting wingers though.
People do get a little overexcited about him diving in at the corner though. It's smart finishing, because if you get your feet off the floor it makes it really hard for the defender to do anything. But the skill involved isn't as great as some would have you believe. Hell I've seen Liam Colbon score one this year.
The scrum half at Hull is Harry Tyson Wilson. I don't like to overhype youngsters before they've even broke into the first team, but he's a good as anyone I've seen at his age in this country.
