Wales have been poor, which is a shame because they could have fone better. But they've been knocked off by 2 pointless heritage australian teams.

I agree that the number of Aussies is a disappointment, but their performance is still a surprise given they were changing coaches every 5mins before the tournament and have barely played together.

I noticed that too. I thought it was shocking coaching. He seemed defeated before they even took the pitch. So it's hardly surprising his team offered so little.

| A few of the USA team plays in the domestic comp, and more than a few Wales players are in super league. They looked completely clueless, despite having plenty of possession on the USA line.
Harris must be sacked now?

| One final thought : the organisers designed the tournament to get wakes to the quarters. All their games at home. The weakest south sea island team and two heritage teams widely assumed to be weak as fixtures. A quarter planned for home turf. Plenty of time between games (unlike the USA). They had every advantage. It's important we don't make excuses about heritage Aussies. This exit us down to a couple if very poor performances by professional players, and a failure to walk the red carpet laid out for them.
It's not the USA or Italian players Harris should be commenting on; it's his own players and coaching.

Theres only one 'actual american' in the usa team - Michael Garvey. Even he plays in australia, for ipswich.
You mention wales players in super league, but a few are at least welsh born and even have a welsh accent.

| the only good thing to come out of today for Wales is that the crowd was a very solid 8k, great to think RL is drawing crowds like that in Wrexham a town that barely knew what RL was 3/4 years ago.

| According to wikipedia there's quite a few Americans in the squad, I think it's great to see USA doing well. They've got a domestic competition, regular internationals (including 8000 attending vs Canada). It's a shame for Wales, but, go USA!

Taylor Welch is American and I know this because he was sat next to me a couple of years ago at one of Warrington's Annual Quiz nights. Think he is from Texas.

That's not my point really. The point is that most of the USA team play in the amateur domestic comp, or in the lower Australian leagues. A team of super league players should be able to beat them quite easily.

The USA and Scotland got the rough end of the stick in the draw. USA 3 games in 8 days, Scotland 9. Sadly these smaller teams are going to be less resourced in medics and physios to compound the problem.
Just bought two tickets for Salford on Thursday so I hope both teams have something left in the tank.

| I predict 120-0 to Australia in the quarter final.
This result confirms Wales should stick to union.

| Currently Scotland 26 - Italy 24, sounds a cracker! shame that one of these good teams will be going home, while USA will get a hammering to Australia.

Clearly people who say USA team is Australians haven't done their research:
Garvey - New Jersey
Welch - Texas
Dan Howard - Los Angeles
Stephen Howard - LA
Clint Newton - South Carolina
In total 9 were born in USA:
www.rugbymag.com/international-n ... d-cup.html
And a couple of others have lots of American heritage with parents/grandparents born in USA before relocating to Australia.
