| There should be a yearly under 18s international tournament held in Australia or England and all the NRL and ESL clubs should pick the eyes out of the best juniors in the world for their under 20s squads.
Most of these guys will go back to their countries after 2 years as very much better players, while some will go on to professional careers.

Because France only has one FT team, they are weak in certain areas of the field. Where the Catalans plug these gaps with Aussies, Les Bleus have to bring in part time players. That makes a HUGE difference. More clubs means more chance of finding players that will plug these gaps (and more chance a club will take a chance with French players in these positions).
Basically, just imagine Warrington were the only FT English team and the rest were part time. How good would they be if you had to replace the full back, winger, half back, hooker and second row with part time, youngsters or utility players? I reckon the Kiwis would demolish them also.

| The thing is, a good France test side, would help improve us also.
The Kiwis have 2 or 3 players at every Aussie club, but English clubs don't have Frenchmen as it counts on the quota. Perhaps that is something we could look in to.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

As has been pointed out earlier, the cultural difference between Auckland ( or even Tonga/Fiji ) and Sydney is minute compared to Carcassonne and Wakefield
Another French SL club is our best option to help develop French RL, but that on its own is not the answer

That's because they come through the Aus systems.
You won't get many French players moving to England as youngsters. It's a completely different cultural. It's a huge barrier, along with language. This will not work with the French like it does NZ. It might work with the Welsh though.

| Was the result more about the strength of the NZ team rather than the weakness of the French?

| Yep, get at least another two French teams into SL & bring the league down to ten clubs.
Then we’ll have seven English clubs playing professionally that’s plenty to nurture an international side capable of beating the Antipodeans .
Based on their current development, the French may be able to provide a side capable of giving the English a game within the next twenty years .

Whatever path you go down you could highlight the positive and then an equal negative, so ultimatly the answer is to build all aspects of the sport, this is where the introduction of licencing failed, for it to succeed required the Championships to improve to put pressure on the SL clubs that were given a safety certificate
Similarily to help French growth at International level requires growth at national level both in Britain and France

| France must eventually learn to stand on there own two feet eventually to become successful. The French league needs to move to summer and hopefully become full time. Putting more French teams in super league would only damage the game in this country IMO. Keep Catalans in Super League for the time being but ultimately the long term goal should be a full time French league. The interest is there and I believe if they are given guidance and a TV deal a 8 team Full time French league is not impossible.
Give France the 2021 world cup and we could just crack rugby league in France.

This is a very good idea.
I seem to recall F.I.F.A giving the World Cup to the U.S in 1994 on condition they set up a professional league. Since then the league has grown and now every corner of the country have a team (+ 1 in Canada)?.
Give them the 2021 World cup...Move their league to summer (no Football or Union to battle) and support and encourage them in achieving this.
