| I recall when Brsibane Broncos were attracting big crowds that they tried via Barry Maranta to weave the NRL magic on London Broncos. Despite some early promise look how things turned out. Until the wider British public gets into RL (and I see no prospect of that ever having given the contary vested interests and lack of finance in the game to kick start a massive and sustained promotional campaign) then whatever management there is the result will be the same.

what you fail to mention in your OP is that:
1. the salary cap is going up as well so clubs will actually only be $50k better off if they take the money
2. it is an advance interest free loan for clubs that are skint, not an increased payment
A number of NRL clubs are financially struggling as much as some SL clubs despite the $billion TV deal they just signed.

"fail"? I made short post, I wasn't writing an exhaustive treatise analysing the entire Australian game ffs

I am looking at it from the perspective of the rugby, the standard of play, the quality of the teams, the attendances they get, and the amount of money that the players, especially the top players, can earn. This attracts commits and retains a large proportion of the best and most talented athletes, and in turn the crowds pay to come and watch them, as the quality of the comp is the best there is.
However if you are suggesting that at the same time, NRL clubs would all be run as some profit-making business and their directors all jetting off to their condos in Hawaii, counting their profits - WHY? NRL is no different to any major sport in the world - the attraction for rich people is to own a top club and throw a bunch of money at making it the best or trying to.

Last time I heard, the NRL which runs the game there did not own or run any particular club.

GF is going on about Bradford because he's obsessed with the club - you should have a look at the bilge on RA&B..

| Whilst no one can argue the NRL isn't massive in Oz the two markets are very different. NRL and afl are pretty much on equal footing where as in UK soccer is totally nationally dominant. In Oz the TV stations are desperate for sports content to drive their audience share so pay big money, in UK the fta TV stations have pretty much given up trying to show top level domestic competitions, Oz has only 6 major cities and RL is number one sport in 3 of them. RU in Oz is a joke and no competition to RL unlike in England, ignore gutters he has no idea on the strength of RL in Oz, he is so delusional he thinks S15 is even close to the popularity of NRL even though they can't get on fta, have only 5 clubs and the TV audiences for s15 are smaller than the nrl's U20's competition lol.

Ah, it’s poxy now, a year ago Salford fans would dream of spending up to the cap.

| Get a BBC & premier Sports deal similar to the World Cup going and get rid of SKY.
That's one way to get the wider public seeing RL.

it was poxy then aswell. If you think about it there at 400 players in the top flight. They are the best 400 players in the country. Some of them will be getting 30-40k a year (the kids even less) The average wage for an RL player is about 70k. Not a bad wage but that’s for someone top 200 in the country in their field. There will be sales people earning much more than that, electricians, plumbers, engineers on way way more than that. There probably aren’t too many professions in this country where the top 200 people in it earn as little as 70k.

| I'd have thought that would apply to most sports in England other than soccer Smokey.
Whilst the country's top people in their professions earn far more than £70K, they don't typically get there in their 20s.

No. I am mentioning Bradford because Bradford have received more RFL help than most other clubs in the 18 years of SL and the fact that the OP is a Bradford fan wanting a "level playing field" is ironic, to say the least.
As for my "bilge" regarding Moore and Whitcut.....what's the latest on that back of a beermat business plan? Have the RFL seen the updated and decent one they requested?

Can't the SL clubs just all join the NRL(UK) and let them run the game?'"
I'm sure Catalans would be confused by playing in the NRL(UK).
And if someone suggests NRL (Europe), they need to remember what the N stands for.

| The NRL is neither National in Australian footprint or in any context of the word!
Bit like "super" league

I was replying to the Salford poster who has the audacity to bemoan the S.C when until recently he could have only dreamed of reaching those heights.
Also, I appreciate there are many, many people who are on far more money, whilst not even being that good, however, the companies or trades they are in can afford it.
Whereas in RL there are a couple of clubs who get it right, a good few who rely on a rich benefactor, with the rest scrabbling about to stay in the game.
