| Quote: The Devil's Advocate "The only way most clubs manage to “compete” is with the assistance of some wealthy benefactor.
The Leeds & Wigan’s are in a very small exclusive group, the rest appear to be haemorrhaging money trying to hold on to their coat tails.
The bloke at London must be one of the biggest losers of personal wealth compared to success & whilst the Dr at Salford is a real shot in the arm for the game, how many years is he going to hang around, until they start to be self sufficient?'"
Dr Koukash has said on numerous occasions that you can't make the required profits out of rugby league that is why he's looking at outside adventures to make money for the club to become self sufficient.

| Quote: SaintsGUS "I think this is terrible news
The Super League is in a mess
Time to get Wood and his chronies out, what good are they doing
We now have Bradford, Wakefield, London, Hull KR in trouble
Salford relying on the good Doctor who could also pull out if the drain gets too much
How are Widnes doing as well??
Saints losing £700K per annum'"
I don't think this is "terrible" news, at all, OK has never come out and said he was planning to run for a dynasty, he helped the club in a time of need and has now passed the reins, ok proved himself to be dedicated to the Bradford cause so I'm sure it's not a decision he's taken lightly and it's up to mike Moore (?) to carry on his good work - if it goes belly up again, then it's terrible, but this hardly is.
As for the other clubs, hull kr is all rumour and conjecture as far as I'm aware, I've not heard anything beyond fans talk, they've built a new stand and haven't appeared to recruit on the cheap.
Widnes again seem to be doing alright I'm not sure why being in the bottom half of the table means you must be struggling financially, widnes are building there way up.
No one wants situations like Wakefield and London (who aren't actually confirmed to be in financial trouble as far as I know just lots of rumours - not being naive but it's still noteworthy) the difference between rl and other sports is that other sports currently just kill off teams that can't keep up financially (Or dump them unceremoniously to the lower divisions - see rangers for more info)
But put this in perspective - in the mid to late 90s it was the saints and the wigans who were in financial trouble! At least our successful clubs now have a chance at being successful financially! This is a more than in most sports - wasn't it 311million the debt of man utd?
You can say what if chairman xyz pulls out, and there's always a chance, but if they do pull out they're going to want to get there money's worth, so will have to sell to people who can match the investment they've put in, so regardless it can be an upward spiral anyway.
People like McManus, Pearson, koukash(sp?), Moran(Warrington right?), lenaghan, Davy and all of them deserve a standing ovation, and should encourage more across the sport, not treat them with caution and suspicion
Oh and ps saints are aiming for break even by 2016/17 they have just built a stadium

Nigel Wood is not the reason that Wakefield can't grasp the concept of paying a tax bill on time.'"
Where did I say he was?
Wakefield were too busy paying inflated wages in a vain attempt to compete in a competition that’s beyond them.
But in order to increase support they had to lure people in with cheap S.T’s & have a modicum of success, but even that has proved too expensive.
It’s alright on your lofty loiner perch berating clubs for trying to aspire to compete & coming to Woods defence, however, with regards to Bradford dilemma, it’s got his sticky fingers all over it.

| Sorry, Bradford don't actually seem to be in trouble. All that's happening is there's a change of ownership of the club.
There's just been an interview with one of the new owners on BBC Radio Leeds and he said that this wasn't a snap decision, that the new owners wouldn't have taken the club on if they didn't feel they would be capable of taking the club forward over the next 3 years and also have potential investors lined up.
In fact the new owners have actually been involved with the running of the club over the last 12 months anyway. Ryan Whitcut has been General Manager of the Bulls since Omar bought the club and Mark Moore's company not only sponsors part of the ground but he has also been an advisor at the club for the last 4 months.
But lets forget all that and just say Bradford are going out of business which is what a lot of people on here want to hear and want to happen, regardless of little things like facts.

I know that you're going to shoot me down here but, the Bulls don't look to be in rude health.
Ok had to pump additional fund in earlier this season to pay player wages and your crowds are massively down on last season so your income will have taken a hefty hit.
The game over here is creaking badly and unless your new owner(s) are in the Koucash or Ken Davy league, it's likely to be something of a struggle for you to get back to where your club was.
Mind you, I think your a few bob in front of Wakefield.

I'm not saying it's all sunshine and daisies at Odsal. However the current situation is far from the collapse many on here wish for. Omar Khan has left the club in a better state than the one it was in when he arrived and the new owners are not here for an overnight fix. They know it's a long term project to restore Bradford to it's former glories and a slow sensible rebuild, IMO, is a far better idea than boom and bust

Only last year. The previous year we lost over £2 million! We're also due to lose more this year than last as the club has paid out for cladding and the company charged with running the catering went bust. However, the club are forecasting much better health for the year after this, pending continued growth in the national economy.

| On the plus side, we may get to see clubs playing for their very existance and the livelihood of the players and people employed.
Will those games be [imeaninful[/i enough for people?

I think it will be hard work all round for the club to progress - and that would apply whoever held the reins and that also applies to every club without a big financial backer - and even more so when you've had your TV money cut.
As Roofaldo has pointed out though, there is no problem with the new owners as they have had direct connections with the club for some time, in one case with Ryan Whitcut as general Manger, going right back to when OK took over. In many respects it's more management buyout than takeover.
I think the lower crowd is also overplayed to be honest. It was maybe a bit less than the season before, but that season had the very cheap tickets which were bought by many who didn't attend every week but were, never the less [as ticket holders], added to the official attendance.

| Also don't forget if the Bulls get through 2014, then they get a boost of half a million quid the following year. So that should help.
I was also under the impression that the investment from OK, was to make sure of the wages until the end of 2014 not 2013. So that money is still in place?

6 team league for 2015 then.
