He's referring to the Trans Pennine Cup which was effectively the League Cup at the time. Might even by the same trophy but not 100%.

Hard to say whether Blackpool is the right choice, like Starbug says it's a better location, with more prestige and appeal, gets a bigger crowd. On the flipside Blackpool FC started charging so much that the winners would have got pittance at the end of the comp so it wasn't really worth winning. We got 16k + whatever gate receipts, doesn't sound a lot but you wouldn't believe how much that is to a club like Leigh.

Sorry that we don't have the excellent facilities like you do. We haven't had the millions of pounds from SKY like you lot have.

Maybe you should come down to the ground soon and you can see for yourself what the club have done in recent years in upgrading the facilities. It's nice that we own our own ground and everything else in it.

Nowt against POR - had some good battles there in the past and its a proper rugby ground too !

Good matches and good to see three non heartland clubs competing. I was going to go but when I found out it was at Fax that changed it for me.

Can't understand genuine RL lovers choosing not to go to a game because of the venue. I go to watch the match, not marvel at the cladding or going for a ride in the Big Dipper.

I think the Leigh fans need to remember how they were brought down a peg or two by Hull KR in our promotion season back in 2006.

I tried telling them pre-season they didn't have the squad to compete with us but they wouldn't be told. Players in that squad included Cockayne, Steel, Murrell, Webster, Fisher, Aizue, Netherton, Joseph - all of whom had Super League careers beyond the 2007 survival season so it's quite obvious they were never going to be challengers come the business end.

Maybe if they'd have curbed their arrogance, they may have paid more attention to how we were going about things but they didn't and paid the price.

Regarding yesterday's game, I thought the Eagles were badly done to by the ref second-half several times and deserved to win the game more than Leigh!

I agree with Zod, Leigh's arrogance in 04 bit them on the butt two years later, they've found their natural level in the Championship IMO.
