| You cannot have Hock and Westwood in the same 17.
I say that as someone who likes both players and would love to have either at the GIants BUT you cannot have the number of penalties those two give away and win against NZ or Australia.

Under this criteria, why not include Sinfield. I was shocked when I looked up the stats that he had conceded one less than Hock and one more than Westwood last season.

Difference is that Sinfield is intelligent and controls his actions when he needs to.
Many of Sinfields penalties were deliberate slowing things down and backchat to refs when he needed to.
Westwood and Hock are so thick they cannot control their primeval urges on the pitch any more than a couple of gorillas. ( and i say that as an admirer of both players).

| I would also point out that Sinfield played in every minute of the 27 SL rounds (plus Leeds 10 other games, an Exiles and 3 International games) whereas Westwood only played in 18 and while Hock played in 25 I would imagine he had breaks in each game.

| Can't believe we stil can't produce a decent scrum half. Put a classy 7 in any of them squads and widdop at 6 and we have a very competitive team.

| I cannot believe that people are so silly as to pick the run on team with reserves, when form during 2013 season will decide this.
You pick a squad, from which the best 17 will be selected.
Here is my 24 man squad, which most people will recognize as the best availableFB Sam Tomkins, Zak Hardaker
WG Ryan Hall, Josh Charnley, Tom Briscoe
CE Jack Reed, Kallum Watkins, Ryan Atkins
HB Kevin Sinfield, Gareth Widdop, Danny McGuire, Rangi Chase
LF Sam Burgess, Sean O'Loughlin
SR Gareth Ellis, Gareth Hock, Ben Westwood
PR James Graham, Chris Hill, Eorl Crabtree, Luke Burgess, Justin Poore
HK James Roby, Rob Burrow[/i
The important think that everyone should recognize, is that Sam Burgess is much more effective, in fact devastating, if he is playing as a backrower.

No, actually what you do is pick the squad at the end of the domestic season, then pick a 17 from that squad. So form decides the squad, not just the line-up. So why is picking a squad now any less silly than picking a squad including first 17?
Also, why have 4 half backs in the squad plus Tomkins and Burrow? Total waste of places, especially when you've only picked 3 second rowers.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

Judging by the amount of people who have McIlorum in their squad, there must be a crack epidemic amongst RL fans. Awful player.

He's not awful, especially if he can keep his stupidity under control. If he does he's a good player.

Sam Burgess can be a great attacking asset in the backrow when he runs wide, but he can be just as useful in the front row if you just allow him to run wild and dominate the opposition down the middle. I don't think we have many front rowers that could take it to the aussie & kiwi front lines quite like he can.
