"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround." An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42181.jpg

Quote: down the pub "we were dross, in it for the first half - don't know how, although some superb line defence. but the second was utter garbage, no real direction or creativity today(season?) and got that bad that i turned off with 10 to go.

but not much cheer if your a cas fan, you may he beat us but if you keep playing like that - every chance you'll get a few more of those results against you.'"

to be fair mate, i didn't expect much with us missing chase, then for Orr to leave the field too, with us then missing both halves, for us to rack up 7 tries is worthy of being content baring in mind we're a "1 man team".

Not great but a wins a win really.

[quote="Bonzo":23qz4bj5]Corrected. Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. [i:23qz4bj5]Who needs flankers[/i:23qz4bj5]' grammar was actually correct. That's what I thought too. Although Phil Clarke was a bit sickening too. I know him and Betts were team mates but my god! Did they share jockstraps? He was havina a solo Widnes love in. Shocked at Stevo favouring Cas though. First time for everything.

The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!':d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_45047.jpg

At the game our performance was pretty dismal, but obviously not as bad as Widnes. After reviewing it on SKY at home, our performance looked marginally better from a defensive point of view, but often clueless in attack.

One thing that was really disappointing was the number of visiting fans from Widnes. Some may blame it on the Bank Holiday and because it was also on TV but I've been to many games where both of these circumstances apply yet there has been 10x the number of visiting fans. It very much reminded me of the NL1 & NL2 grand final in 2007, when they were the least supported team of the 4 who played on that day (Cas v Widnes & Fev v Oldham).

Ben Cross thought he was playing 'knees up mother Brown'. Firstly he knelt of Youngquests arm and was duly penalised, and then the knee into Danny Orr's back which was frankly sickening.

In the end a win is a win, but I fear it came at a cost!

I'd be the first to agree that Ben Cross is an eejit, but that second one is a bit harsh; it was replayed several times on Sky and he looked to be totally focussed on the ball - Orr was brave to hold his ground, but he was always going to come off second best. It didn't look intentional.

To be honest, what I found sickening was McGoldrick's blatant use of the elbow to the Widnes players throat; it was deliberate and intended to harm. The Sky camera caught his little chuckle afterwards too, which won't play well at Red Hall. He should be looking at 2-3 games.

Lets not be stupid. We are having it extremely tough at the moment and the travelling fans is a reflection of that as it is with any side.

When we start to get some positive news for a change or things to cheer for then the numbers will perk up.

Lets face it, If Cas had been a bit smarter, We would have run 70 points in. Daz Clark and Richard Owen were all guilty of not passing when they should of.

Widnes are honestly the worst side i have seen down the lane. They offered absolutely nothing of a challenge really, They scored from a kick, Where Youngquest misjudged the flight. And on one occasion, Richard Owen saved us under the posts. Apart from that, They scored with 20 seconds to go.

There was only going to be one winner heading into the second half.

A drab game, But a win is a win. But at what cost, Danny Orr is injured, McGoldrick will get banned.

That's the reason I gave mention to the 2007 which was a promotion opportunity and the Widnes fans still didn't turn out in numbers, yet all 3 other teams (2 of which were from a league lower than Widnes and hence experiencing 'tougher' times) did. icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't think the disciplinary panel are allowed to use the Sky footage, are they? Something about it being 'unfair' because not every player cited will have been on Sky. Quite how they square that with some games having a video ref and others not, I don't know.

Slap Clark in the halves to replace the "king of cas" & Milner in to play 9. Orr has an extra week to recover. Job done.

There was about 4,500 Widnes fans at Headingley. We filled the Western Terrace and a good chunk of the North stand. Every time we were in the NRC final at Blackpool we took at least 5,000 fans.

Widnes' form is the worst I've ever witnessed in 40 odd years of watching them. Our away form is utterly diabolical. People are sick of it and voting with their feet. I suppose I should expect little else from other pathetic, colloquial Rugby League fans than to stick the knife in.

Must.not.bite.

As for yesterday, it was a sad sight but you can hardly blame the fans who are so disenchanted at the moment, whilst prices have never been higher to watch RL.

You may remember the 2500 Widnesians at Cas in 2002, by the way.

I didn't realise that - seems rather foolish to ignore what could be described as the worlds best CCTV footage, given that it's in glorious HD and captured from several different angles.

Either way, McGoldrick is a horrible player who gets away with grubby antics like this on a regular basis; he should be looking at 2-3 games.

I should say that it's only something I've read on here, though from a poster who is usually reliable with such information. I tend to believe it because it sounds like the sort of aboutface reasoning the RFL would employ.
