| A big punch up on the field usually gets the crowd going, best leave that to the players tho!

| We should invite that band (the one during the England v France game last week) over from France and get them to play English war songs.

| More people need to turn up and the standard of test matches overall needs to improve. Get the product right on the field and the atmosphere will take care of its self.

| I thought the 09 final was a great atmosphere. But in general they aren't great, usually because we're getting battered. As Bullseye said, a punch up usually gets the crowd going and also some unity and enthusiasm from the players.
On Sam Tomkins i don't think (and hope) he doesn#t get booed. I think the exiles game was a strange atmosphere as it wasn't really a proper test, allwoing the idiots to boo. Now we're playng OZ & NZ it will have more a test feel to it and hopefully Tomkins won't get booed.

Funnily enough, I enjoyed their music last week!

| How about maybe actually beating the countries that matter and winning something important ?
That might help

| No away fans leads to poor atmosphere.

It would indeed. NZ are beatable in the uk. And we can get the odd win against AUS but to be competitive and lift a trophy would help

| If we beat aus and NZ in the same series and then win the final I am pretty sure the atmosphere will be rocking.

I've been to several internationals and from experience can say that type of behaviour is by no means confined to Yorkshire.
I was at the JJB a number of years ago with an Aussie mate watching us get tanked by the green and gold. We had to suffer a bunch of Wigan fans in front of us moaning and shouting nonsense about all non wigan players. The last 15 mins were peaceful though cos they did the famous walk!
This is not intended as an insult to Wigan fans, more to show that RL and big SL clubs in particular, have their fair share of fans like this.
P.S. What's "tonuge in cheek" and does it hurt? Is it a Lancashire "thing"

| Simple.
Let's roll out the Delia Effect -"let's be 'avin' you" and all that. Who's our Delia? How about Kath Hetherington - butt naked? Can you imagine the atmosphere after a rousing rendition from Kath?
Somebody make this happen.

| As mentioned, the 2009 final was a great atmosphere (at least early on) and it was pretty good at Wigan (and a lesser extent Huddersfield) in the same competition, though it helped that there were a couple of large groups at the back of the North Stand and close to the band that perked it up a bit.
Agree with the original post that one of the disappointing aspects of international RL is the lack of atmosphere. All it takes is the RFL to set aside an area as a 'singing section' or, to take things a little further, form an England Supporters Club (as suggested on here previously) to build up more of a community and encourage them to sit in the same section and get the atmosphere going.
The generic songs mentioned previously are easy enough to catch on but again it comes down to having a section that actually starts the chants, which ties in with the above point.
That said, I won't be attending any of the games this year but the above experiences are based on the last 10+ years of going to all of the England/GB games.
