Quite true , but it is the RFL responsibility to put an attractive structure in place , so far we have had Toulouse , excempt from relegation , and the NR 9 s , what next ?

Have a look on the Crusaders board at some of their opinions why they don't think they are viable as a Championship club , it makes interesting reading , basically if it isn't SL , it's not worth watching , so it isn't just us is it ?

At the end of the day you can't hold the championship clubs completely responsible as they aren't in complete control of their destiny. Telling them to "stop whinging" doesn't change the fact that they're relying on the people who run the game to make the right decisions. It's the rfl's league they play in, their format, their teams, they have a right to answers and a positive game plan. If they're not getting it, they're entitled to ask why.

If they had the final say in such matters then people may have a point but they don't.

It goes back to what I said years ago, the competition is vibrant, growing, strong, worth winning in it's own right, until your team is threatened with relegation to it.

That's all fair enough, but it gets to a point where people are just looking for an excuse for their club's failings and the easiest one is the RFL. Nearly everything is their fault if you believe the things some people say on here.

This very thread is about a club with big crowds being taken away and what the RFL are going to do. Err... what's stopping Leigh building up their own crowds like Widnes have? It's certainly not a ground or success on the pitch issue! Are the RFL doing something for Widnes that they aren't for the rest?!

Well we had 10 this year and 9 the year before , we've lost 2 clubs from the Championships with no obvious replacements at the moment

Except Widnes haven't ' built up ' the fan base in the Championship/NL , have they , their attendances have been slowly dwindling

It just seems to me that the lower tiers are quite simply an afterthought , something only considered once all the serious stuff is out of the way

6 weeks to the play offs and clubs don't know what they are playing for , try getting fans excited on that

While I agree to some extent, Ive said it a million times, you're just small town clubs. If you're not big enough to compete with the big boys, you're not big enough to compete with the big lot. If you cant afford it, dont do it. You'll have more games next year than 8 dont worry, in the meantime stop moaning at the RFL for every failing your poxy club has. It's not their fault you're just a poxy town surrounded by much bigger ones and THAT, fundamentally is your problem.

Indeed. Small towns like Sheffield, London, Newcastle, Manchester, Toulouse etc will never be able to compete with such teeming metropolises as Castleford, Wrexham, Wakefield or St. Helens.

But sheffield, toulouse, london or newcastle arent moaning.
Its clubs like Leigh, Wakefield, Halifax, Barrow or featherstone who once had great teams in the area thinking they have a divine right to be up there. The same could be said for Britain in general when in reality we're a small island in comparison to the world. British culture eh

Who is mentioning ' competing with the big boys ' ? , its about surviving as semi pro clubs in the Championship

No mention of SL in this thread , just having a competition than can pay there way , and if you'd actually read what is in front of you , my concern is also for the Championship 1 clubs that find themselves not knowing what they are playing for , nothing to do with SL

You really are showing your age now sonny , this game isn't just about Warrington finally winng a cup or two after decades of failure , who are only where they are thanks to Tesco's and a rich bloke , you were for 30 odd years , dont forget it
