| lets be honest...wigan got all the decisions tonight......
they didnt play well and they were helped by quite a few decisions from the officials.
i watched the game with a neutral view tonight..... wigan got away with some very dubious decisions.
it was a shame really.... it was a great game of rugby.... hand on heart i thought leeds did enough to win.... some very debatable calls for a few wigan tries.
thats rugby league though.

| I am not a neutral , but ..
Let's say that Sam was attempting a grubber kick , and just after he dropped the ball (with the intention of kicking it) Danny tackled himfrom behind WHEN HE DIDN't HAVE HOLD OF THE BALL . Is that a foul by Danny for tackling him when he didn't have the ball ? is it a penalty try ? He clearly (as it turned out) would have scored despite the foul .
Thoughts ..

| Sam had every right to tackle him there, he still had the ball in his hands when Sam dived to tackle him.

East Hull Is Wonderful!: |
|
| Rovers scored a try from a drop/grubber kick against Leeds in our first super league season. It went to the video ref that day and was given as a try. Everyone in the commentary box seemed fine with the decision and there seemed to be no controversy about it. Just shows the inconsistency again in the decisions.

I thought there were quite a few decisions that would have rattled each team. Alibert had a bit of a stinker, but then I fully expected that having not jumped on the "Alibert is the greatest ref ever to have lived" bandwagon that seemed spring up this season. Apart from his fitness he's got nowt. And if it weren't for the touch judge advising him (touch judge doing his job eh?) he would have awarded a try to McGuire and we'd be saying Wigan were robbed by bad reffing.
I agree with you about Leeds, and said to the missus in the final minutes that they'd done enough to win; then again, by the same token, with a scoreline like that Wigan obviously did enough to not lose. Neither side dominated the other enough to claim a clear victory.

| The game tonight had mistakes and errors from all involved.
That's the RL game and how it is.
And the next one.

| The more worrying thing for me is that the Wigan player interviewed thoiught it was a try in real time, the ref wasn't sure but the linesman saw something in a micro second to go to the VR, but failed to see the most obvious forward pass right in front of him. Selective sight maybe.

Keep the one who saw the McGuire incident and sack the other one then. It looked like the pillock we have tomorrow as referee.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

The officials (and commentators) seemed obsessed by whether it struck the ground before he kicked it.
Clearly it did, so that makes it a drop kick ("a kick whereby the ball is dropped from the hands (or hand) and is kicked immediately it rebounds from the ground"icon_wink.gif rather than a punt, but still legal within the laws of the game.
But then again I imagine dozens of forward passes per game that the officials don't call, so maybe it's my eyes.'"
What utter bollox
So if we follow your logic then ever drop goal done in the history of the game was a knock on

Eh?
I'm saying the exact opposite.
McGuire's wasn't a knock on because it was a drop kick.
It's video ref Ganson who is trying to outlaw drop goals not me.

Yes it was , you are talking complete bollox , so either you are thick or are just attempting to wind up
A drop kick is meant to be kicked at the point the ball hits the ground , not after it has bounced
You know this as does everybody else
It was a knock on , simple as

"a kick whereby the ball is dropped from the hands (or hand) and is kicked immediately it rebounds from the ground"
That's the definition of a drop kick in the laws of the game. Not simultaneous contact between ball, ground and boot but immediately after it has rebounded from the floor.
McGuire did that. The ball wasn't bouncing round the floor for seconds before he kicked it. He met the ball as it bounced from the pitch.
What happened was that Alibert asked the wrong question in saying "did it hit the ground?", wrong because drop kicks ARE allowed to hit the ground.
He should have asked if the ball was dropped deliberately rather than accidentally and did McGuire kick it soon enough to qualify as a drop kick.
As I recall Ganson didn't watch a single replay in real time in making his decision so how can he possibly have judged if the ball was "kicked immediately it rebounds from the ground" as required by the laws?
The fact is that, in the heat of the moment, the 3 officials seems to have had a collective brain fart and forgotten about the possibility of a drop kick and instead got confused with a situation where a ball is dropped accidentally by a player and must then be kicked before it hits the ground if not to be ruled a knock on.

Well your hardly being honest then are you. I understand fans like you have it in for Wigan, but it gets that bad that you have to find every decision that went for Wigan and ignore every one that went for Leeds and then claim the that Wigan got all the decisions. Why cant you watch a Wigan game without being biased and watch both teams rather than just picking up every little thing Wigan do. Im not for once saying Wigan didnt get some decisions, but so did Leeds.
