So far we have 12k of signatures from the local area with more still coming in but more carnt hurt even if there not from the local area as greater numbers will always mean more pressure on the council.

I was speaking to the "leader" of Tigers Together at the last home game and he said once we get the Supermarket sale sorted then we're all good to go and the only thing stopping that is the Council and whether or not the people in the surrounding area would want it. The funding is all in place and this is the last piece of one big puzzle that has been coming together for a long time now.
Watch this space, ignore the buls*** our ground will be ready for 2013.

If I were a district councillor I would be a little miffed to be lobbied by people from outside the area concerned, and less inclined to acknowledge the support for the petition from the locals. However, good luck with the new ground.

Cas have the money if pp goes through on wheldon road, if not we will be able to sell wr to someone else.
Cas will own there own ground when it gets built which give us a much better income stream.'"
Wakefields cash is possibly 6 months away from being released
Castlefords cash, well it's anyone's guess from 18 months to never!
Castlefords PP for GH doesn't put them in a better position than Wakefeld because they are now right back at the beginning of the planning application process for WR with no guarantee it will get passed and a likelihood that it will go to PI at best.
As for plan 'B' Wakefield have one in the form of a redeveloped Belle Vue for which the funding is in place and proof of funding supplied to Savilles.
Oh! And Wakefield have a plan 'C' in the form of Oakwel with a five year contract already agreed and also provided to Savilles.
Both plan 'B' and plan 'C' formed part of our franchise application and both were formulated working hand in hand with the RFL and Savilles.
What is Castlefords plan 'B' because there is zero chance of you being in a new stadium for at least the next two years if not for the whole of the next franchise period and that's IF you get a good run at the planning process.

| Surely Wakefields plan B takes them to the same level as the Castleford ground is now, we can hold 12000 and have at least half the stadium under cover.
IMO only your plan C will take you above Castleford, and then it's not ideal having to ground share away from Wakefield, look how it's effected Saints having to play at Widnes.

Agree with most of that except a redeveloped Belle Vue will exceed Wheldon Rd in a number of areas.
Hospitality
Number of seats
More supporters undercover
The RFL will grade a redeveloped Belle Vue as a 'B' and it will only fall short of 'A' grade because 2,000 of the 12,000 capacity will not be covered.
If memory serves me correctly WR is Graded as a 'C'

How sure are you that Wakey's plan'B' will not require any planning permission?

By all accounts we won't need planning permission for the majority of the build, some parts of the build have already got permission and for the section that will need it we've already had WMDCs planning officer in and he has advised on the best design in terms of passing the planning process.
Again all of this process and the people involved in it have been in touch with Savilles and the details form part of the franchise application submitted last month.
Serious question Alf, in light of all the changes to the LDF, the Governments stance on job creation in the private sector, the recent agreement between the Highways Dept and Yorkcourt and the now non reliance of LEEDS Council on Green Party MPs ,do you genuinely expect Newmarket to be turned down at the PI?

Wakefield get no cash unless the pi goes in there favor so at the moment wakefield have no cash, is this true or have i misread the situation.
I would say that having planning permission for a stadium is much better to not having planning permission and possibly not getting it all myself.
Cas get there cash when wr gets outline planning for the supermarket which as i understand it will take 6 months to a year (i know you would prefer IA'S timescales where he puts the best possible timeframes for wakefield and the worst possible for cas as its suits your agenda more but that doesnt mean they are right).
So wakefields plan b is to play at a ground they dont own and redevelop that, will the bank of ireland be ok with you occupying there land indefinatley? Wouldnt you need planning yourself if your going to seriously redevelop bv and do so on a more than temporary basis?
Moving to barnsley would kill you off as sure as moving to castleford and trinity and the rfl know it.
I dont know what castlefords plan b is, the rfl do and they are ok with it as demonstrated at the last franchise decision.
Once again you tell us how everything is going to go with the castleford stadium, did the sources that gave you this info also tell you that nm would go to pi or that thornes would fall apart (or about any of the other failed wakefield stadium plans) or do they only talk to you about the plans of castleford?

Ok, would you prefer me to bull$heet?
"Cas will definitely be playing out of a new stadium by 2013"
Or
"Cas can definitely afford their new ground"
Or
"Richard Wright never lies"
Neither of the grounds will be ready by 2013 at the earliest (if ever), either way Cas and Wakey are both in the same boat, no new stadium for the next round of franchises. Poor.
Wakefield will be denied a franchise IMO, but not because of the success of Castleford, but their own failings. Neither club has made any advancements since the last round of applications to speak of. Obviously Castleford and Wakefield aren't the only clubs who should have the finger pointed at them, but it seems the spotlight is aimed at the two calder clubs.
ATEOTD, all this bitching about stadiums between Wakey and Cas is pointless until the next round of franchise applications.

Castleford have made no secret to the fact that we need to sell Wheldon Road before we can finance the stadium. The petition is to encourage the council to act quickly on passing plans for redevelopment on the current ground and not let it drag on for months/years. Once we get permission for a supermarket then Opus Land will release funds for us to begin building the new ground.'"
Cas have planning but no funding in place. Wakey have funding in place and are waiting for the ODP to decide on planning. Who is in the stronger position?
From the outisde looking in, I'd say Wakey.
