It's not the lack media training training that's the problem. As that produces a homogenised non-personalised view of the world, with standardised answers memorised from script, and a strict convention of how to act. Rather, it's the lack of education, in general, that these people possess, and the non-confidence to act as they would do normally. As Wittgenstein once said, "the limits of my language, are the limits of my world".

I disagree. You can predict what most footballers are going to say to each question 2 minutes in advance. Although, that's more of a dig at sports media in general - asking the same old questions, in the same old manner.

It something you notice with the Aussie players - most of them seem very relaxed with the media.

Pretty much all of them are. Even the younger players.

I'd actually like Sky to stop doing their man of the match interviews right after the final hooter - I know they have limited broadcast time, but give the players five or ten minutes after the game to gather their thoughts before you shove a microphone under their nose and expect them to be coherent.

I'd definately agree with that, most of the players havn't even got their breath back when there's a camera in their face.

they could always just refuse to do one there and then. if sky were annoyed by that they could allow more time for the after match stuff. soccorball coverage on sky carries on for ages after the games finish. and less face it, there is always much less to talk about regarding a football match. doesnt take long to show a goal or two and a few dives.
