| It's a shame that the Welsh R.U supporting guys we spoke to in Cardiff could only say "good riddance to the big poof"

| Thomas' performances are amazing when you consider the guy is two years older than Keith Senior. If he had played RL his whole career he could have been Inglis-like. Such a shame when talent is wasted in RU.

| I thought he was here for one last payday, but massive credit to him he's come to league at his age and tried his best, put 100% in every time he's played for Crusaders. Certainly proved me wrong, like some have already said pitty he didn't switch earlier could have been a great player.

| Quote: roughyedspud "anyone hear what he just said on the bbc?
basically he said in league its 100% all the time,no hiding place and he loves it...then said to be honest in union,as jonathon (davies) knows,as a winger or Centre, there is times when you can switch off, obviously referring to davies' famous comment that in league he was never cold...lol
shame he did'nt get here 10years ago.....and he should give andy powell a bell...'"
spot on, shame he didnt come earlier
and what hes saying is true good to hear an ex union guy say it
there is no hiding on a RL field
survival of the fittest, not survival of fattest

| Quote: Lawrie L "brilliant interview to be fair'"
Agreed, that whole segment of the BBC presentation was superb from the interview with Rourke to the post match chat with a battered looking Thomas and Noble admitting that Danny DeVito would probably be the ideal actor to portray himself in the film.
And the common denominator is Clare Balding, she is just so enthusiastic about the game that its unbelievable, she obviously has a huge crush on Gareth Thomas as she never stops talking about him (for understandable reasons), even mentioning his tattoos when she caught a glimpse of him without a shirt on in the dressing room, but she also gets on really well with Brian Noble and Robbie Paul - such a shame that they don't get to present more than half a dozen games a season because they could all be great ambassadors for the sport on terrestrial TV,

| All the more reason the RFL should be helping the crusaders cherry pick the very best 16 year old Welsh RU players.

Nice eh?
I think if Thomas had come into league earlier he might have been a 2nd rower with the size of him.

| Quote: Chorlton RL "agreed. All the noise around it had centred on RL with him consulting Nobby and that. It doesn't sound like a Gareth Thomas biopic as such. It'll be about him coming to terms, coming out, dealing with the fall out and moving into a new sport with this new identity. I would imagine there will be a brief history of his career in Union at the beginning to establish who he is, but the majority of the story will revolve around when he came out and left Union.
Moving into a new sport with a new culture, a new region with a new team will be used as a way to highlight his struggles to battle against the odds to establish his new identity and be recognised and respected as an individual and team player.
There'll be a prologue looking at the Welsh Grand Slam et al. Then you've got the highs of the media storm of coming and switching codes. The bang to earth with a bump moment in THAT tackle when he first touched the ball. The lows of taking stick from the terraces at Cas. The team talk at half time alluded to in the interview earlier to show him gaining a grasp of who he is and turning a corner. And, then Cru reaching the play offs and giving Hudds a game; the bittersweat success against the odds.'"
That's brilliant but we could open the film up with fifteen to twenty minutes of the unacceptable face of RU i.e. some of the poofs comments referred to on here and how ethnic minorities rarely get a shot in RU. That could create a truly life affirming piece where 'majority' society rejects Thomas because of his sexuality and league is shown to be the all embracing sport it is. Obviously we'd have to not refer to Australian RL during it though.
