| It's because Starbug's just concocting conditions to support his faulty conclusion.

The Championship clubs don't , it's the SL expansion clubs that need it when they get relegated
Licencing is there to protect expansion , not protect Championship clubs from promotion

| The trouble with P&R is the boom and bust mentality that it generates.
Most SL player contracts are sorted out by mid-season. So any player who's told he won't be getting a new deal will know usually by Aug, which means he'll have his agent talking to other SL clubs. As there was no way of knowing which team would have come up under the old P&R system due to the unpredictability of play-off football, so the club that DOES come up only gets the scraps, so they are on the back foot before they've even started their SL campaign.
So the club that comes up is already weaker than the other teams in SL it terms of recruitment AND the fitness level between Championship and Super League. And very often the club that came up were the whipping boys.
The current way is that the club that's coming up will know, I believe, in April. So they've plenty of time to get themselves ready for SL and have a fair chance at any free agents and means that the club that comes up has a fighting chance.

Where Widnes the ' whipping boys ' in 2002 ? , Huddersfield in 2003 ?, Salford in 2004 ?
When the Championship ( NFP/NL 1 as was ) season finished in July , there was no problem , when the season was put back to October , then we started to have problems , so the answer would be ?
You state ' The current way ' , what current way , you mean this year , after this year there is no guarantee that a club will ever be allowed to come up again , if the new TV deal gives the SL clubs more money ( which let's face it , most of them need it to stay in business ) , then the gap between the Championship and SL will grow even bigger
So the problem isn't going up , it's dropping down , that is why we have a ' Licence ' system , to protect the clubs ( Expansion mostly ) at the top , not the ones at the bottom

| since semi automatic P+R was scrapped two clubs in the top flight have gone bust (one of them twice), the "mentality" remains and this myth along with a few others is trying to cover up that it was all done to protect those in the top flight from playing in the second one, something that has been made much harder by recent changes to the structure

| No the governing body hasn't by itself killed off the game, but they have assisted the SL towards doing that with their softly softly " you can get away with murder approach"!!!
Even now have they have not realised that something is wrong overall.
If Sky EVER pull the plug , and look at how they promote and cover the other code compared to ours, then the pro game in this country is finished.

| Championship clubs are not currently big enough to play in Super League, end of story. Trying to pretend they are and contrive a system of P&R with seemingly no logical basis is just completely stupid. As for the OP - you're a clown.

You are quite correct , apart from Widnes , there is no Championship club anywhere near strong enough to make the jump up to SL
Problem is , there never will be , if that is a scenario people are happy with , then fine

Maybe some of the current Championship clubs never will be, but that's the nature of sport. Clubs like Stevenage and Lincoln City will probably never be big enough to be in the Premiership. The fact that a lot of current clubs are based in fairly small towns with limited potential for growth is unfortunate, but it's just the way it is. But there's nothing stopping new clubs with more potential from springing up and becoming big enough over time.

So only clubs based in large citys should be considered for SL ? I'm your opinion ?

Add a few SL clubs to that. For a few clubs, take away the Sky money - strip that away and what you are left with is a Championship club. I'm not saying Championship Clubs can make the step up but £1.2m sure does help with the gulf my friend.
