| Quote: JB Down Under "They are the strongest bid in the weakest location. Perth will be worth more in TV $'s than another NSW team, as will a Q'land team. Bears deserve to be in but if any of the three Q'land bids get their act together in time I can see them missing out, sadly. However, I don't think they will as the Q'land bids have left it too late to get everything together. Bears and Reds have been working on their bids for a number of years.'"
they are the strongest bid full stop
perth has no sugar daddy, and very few members
bears have everything going for them
central caost has one of the fastest growing populations in australia, has loads of juniors and a great stadium
the reds wish they had half of what the bears had
the bears will be the next team in and theyll drag in perth with it because we need 2 teams for tv
just thank the bears for your entry, their hard work will pay off

up there with your ignorant best Dally.
Stadium Reds 1 Bears 0
Population Reds 1 Bears 0
TV $'s Reds 1 Bears 0
NRL Team support Reds 1 Bears 0
Avg attendance last 3 years Reds 1 Bears 1
National profile for game Reds 1 Bears 0
Further dilution of NSW corporate $'s Reds 1 Bears 0
Only area Bears are stronger is memberships (though we already have over 2000 and we only launched them end of last year)
Sugar Daddy (though he is hardly throwing huge sums to buy them)
Jnrs (not that you can credit the Bears for that)
Reds will be in definate, Bears probably but only because Brisbane2 won't be ready.

better stadium now - bears
more juniors - bears
better crowds - bears
sugar daddy in place - bears
membership - bears
number of leagues club to support bid - bears
revival of RL heartland in north shore and feel good factor of bears return - bears
the only thing perth have is potential increase in TV viewers over 10 years and a new TV slot for eastern markets
everything else is the bears JB
GROWL.
the perth bid in terms of membership numbers and financial backers is actually poor

Christchurch will share a franchise with Wellington IMO..........and I believe there will be a second NZ team well before 2022...........if not, I suspect that the NZRL/NRL may have left it too late.
Money is the only thing lacking for a bid.....finding someone willing to underwrite a team over here is proving troublesome

Which Leagues Club? North Sydney? Are you sure they're gonna put money in to the Central Coast Bears? Or are you presuming again.

| Quote: dally messenger "2013 NIB will have 5000 more capacity, better corporate facilities and actually have 4 sides!
more juniors - bears yep buts its RL heartland, what do you expect?
better crowds - bears really? Crowds on CC and in Perth have been comparable last couple of years.
sugar daddy in place - bears yep give you that
membership - bears not by much and by time kick off comes we will be comparable
number of leagues club to support bid - bears yep though leagues clubs are no longer the cash cow they once were for teams
revival of RL heartland in north shore and feel good factor of bears return - bears sentiment has no place in modern sport, it doesn;t pay the bills
the only thing perth have is potential increase in TV viewers over 10 years and a new TV slot for eastern markets - which, if the report is right, is worth an awful lot of $'s to the NRL.
everything else is the bears JB- like what? Do the Bears increase capital city ratings? Do the Bears add new hnrs, new TV audiences, new national exposure for sponsors? GROWL.
the perth bid in terms of membership numbers and financial backers is actually poor - which again shows your ignorance, on what basis are you claiming this? We have nearly as many members signed up this year already as some NRL clubs and we have a number of sponsors on board now and talsk happening with some very influential people. We have a bid team made up of well respected Perth businessmen. Yeh right you would know![/quote]

| i mentioned TV JB. and in terms of increasing capital city ratings, itll probably only be by 100,000 for games involving perth
for non perth games i doubt thered be much increase at all
in terms of strength as a RL club the bears obliterate you
heck 10 years down the track theyll still be a stronger club
they have everything going for them.
in terms of juniors, crowds etc central coast will always beat perth
central coast is a RL heartland, we are number 1
perth well always be a long way number 2 trying to grab a small part of the market
from day one the bears will make a profit, perth will need investor to cover losses for at least 10 years
the fact they are a heartland team means perth will never compete with them

| Look I've already said Bears have done everything you could expect of a bid development, great bid, great support, great effort, BUT wrong location. Bears in any other place outside of NSW = shoe in. They will prob get in but more because Brisbane2 isn;t ready than the NRL needing or wanting a 11th NSW team.
re day one profit thing, remind me again how many of the other heartland teams are doing this? Newcastle are equally a RL heartland, one club town, great support, in fact everything the Bears offer but have struggled for years to financially keep their heads above water. Like Newcastle, it will only be the backing of a sugar daddy that actually keeps them viable.

2 leagues club vs none for the knights
massive sponsorship base via north shore and central coast
stadium etc
put it this way theyll have around $5 million more pa than perth will
its a shame perth cant be as strong as the bears but thats the difference between being in the heartland and being in an afl state and trying to get a toehold

| again your opinion. Neither you or I know exactly who the Reds will get on board as sponsors/owner and so until 2013 it is all guesses. I will bet (if you were a betting man) that the crowds for the two clubs will be within 2-3k of each other though.
How are the Bears League clubs performing, if like the rest of them then I certainly hope they are not banking on that as a strong income source.
re your comment about corporates from North Sydney, I am guessing this is why the other NRL clubs don't want them in, the Sydney market is already over saturated and yet another mouth to feed from the Sydney corporate world is hardly palatable. re stadium, as I said come 2013 the Reds will be playing out of a better stadium.

Which 2 leagues clubs are behind the Central Coast Bears Dally?
1. Name them please.
2. Show evidence they said they'll back a "Central Coast Bears" team.
Thanks in advance.

central coast will average 18,000 - 20,000
perth will average 12,000 - 15,000
the bears will have a full range of sponsors.
as i said before the bears will have far more sponsorship income than perth will have, theyll be a stronger club financially
not only cause of the bears name but also the central coast market.
remember JB you started this off mate.
the bears are a bulletproof bid.
and nths leagues club are making millions. and then theres the one in gosford too
dont forget the bears will have 2 massive derby games boosting their crowds, the games vs manly and newcastle
perth will have not have a single derby game, well except fremantle and West coast

| where do you get the 18-20k from? Games in Gosford over the last 3 years have avg'd 13k (and that includes fans of the teams playing who travel up from Sydney or Newcastle). I think people are in for a shock re Bears crowds once the novelty has worn off. They have posted a number of sub 10k crowds at that ground in recent time inc one of just 6k in 2009.
I expect Reds will avg around 14-15k first year (depending on team) and Bears will be around 16-17k (avg boosted by travelling Sydney/Newcastle fans)
According to their Leagues club annual report they only made $500k profit in 2009 so not sure where you think all the pokie funding is going to come from?
The Bears are not a dead cert, they offer V little to the TV deal and the other clubs don't want them, and the NRL in the past has been very clear about wanting to keep Gosford for a Sydney relocation. As I said I think they will get in as there is no other viable alternative other than the Reds and they will want two teams.

The Norths Club has 3 Leagues clubs (profit /loss made in 2009)
Norths (+$530k)
Berlo (-$184k)
Seagulls (+$159)
Hardly rolling in cash to fund an NRL team!

yes a home game for the roosters at gosford will get as many as a central coast bears side would
