saying the future is big grounds is like saying Hull Kr have to play at the KC

some clubs will value their traditional grounds only only play big derby games at places like homebush or sfs

NRL will be played at leichhardt oval for 100 years hence, nothing changing there

haha, keep living in the NSWRL past, hopefully the Sydney clubs are finally waking up to the future and hovels like Leichhardt will be consigned to the annals of Winfield Cup glory where they belong.

The problem with that is opposition teams(specially those that play in the big stadiums) hate going to Koograh, Brookie, Leichardt, Cambelltown, Shark Park and usually have poor records at those grounds.

Take the Broncos for example they have an ordinary record at Brookie and only won for the first time there last season in ages.

So the question is if you go for those teams would prefer 18,000 at ANZ and it looks pathetic (watch a Souths/or Doggies game) or a near full suburban ground that is jumping?

when its packed and got 17k on a sunny sunday afternoon I agree it is great, sadly when the weather turns those gates drop, sometime to less than 10k at some of these park grounds. That is no way to run a business and is embarrasing for a supposed top flight sport.

Within 10 years clubs like Tigers will be looking to regular 20K+ crowds, they will never get that at Leichardt or Campbeltown. Take a look at Tigers avg attendance at SFS or ANZ then at either of their other two grounds then tell me it makes sense to play in suburbia. The best supported teams in Sydney are playing out of modern stadia, wakey wakey.
