I like it!
"Put your sporting trophy into this pre-paid envelope and you could receive £50, £100, or even £150!"
"Mr. Ian L. of Wigan sent us this hubcap-shaped trophy and got £50- what could you get?"
"That's cash4trophy.com, new sponsors of the Challenge Cup"

| Strange about the kelloggs bit, if they loved it so much why are they not sponsoring the cup.

They're probably still paying for the free Nutri-Grain bars that were dished out that year - my brother and I got 4 each when we played Rochdale away!
[sizeSome may also point to them being used as missiles when Leigh played Wigan in the quarter final, but I'll happily gloss over that....[/size

www.green4solutions.com/whoweare.aspx are the company delivering the email through their eCRM software application. This is pretty bog standard and tells you who received, opened acted on etc....but as their was no forward to a friend button on the email.......they can't tell if it''s been forwarded...but they can assume.
Neither here nor there really........as I said, this type of proposal is better pitched face to face with brand managers of decent size companies.......not sent out in an untargeted email.
BTW.....SKY TV do show the Challenge cup......just not in the UK.

The only company I can see that would be suitable to sponsor an English Rugby League competition would be 'Lawrence and Foster' of Castleford.
Their products would be perfect for British RL as well as a nice pint of warm flat weak British 'beer' down 't Woolpack

| I always liked the name 'Silk Cut Challenge Cup'
Always a bit of a mouthful, had a 'How now brown cow' feel about it and always seemed to frustrate BBC presenters that didn't seem to like our code anyway.

Same here, though that's probably as much to do with that being the name of the Cup when I was growing up.

| Tobacco sponsorship banned in the UK in 2003. Is there any reason why alcohol sponsors seemed to have moved away from us as major sponsors and now have become minor shirt sponsors. I'd imagine it would be the returns the company got against shirt sponsorship, but it seemed in the early days of SL quite a few teams had Fosters, Tetley's or McEwans Lager.

I'm surprised McDonalds or Coca Cola dont sponsor any Rugby League in the UK.
2 of the biggest globally recognisable logos in the world.
Maccas in particular suffer with an image problem where people associate eating their products with being fat.
With the exception of Piggy Riddell and that fat guy palaesinaaaa or whatever his name is most footy players are pretty trim

Legislation isn't it? I thought alcoholic products were banned from being primary sponsors of sporting clubs, competitions or organisations. Tetley's can put small badges on jerseys because they are the official alcoholic beverage of Super League. If I remember correctly they have exclusivity rights, so only Tetley's and Carlsberg can be sold on match days at grounds. That would scare off other brands. If its not legislation then I would imagine clubs/SL/RFL would have avoided taking alcoholic brands on as main sponsors because of the taboo surrounding it. Having said that, that Pie company is an official partner, which a) does nothing to dispel the sport's traditional image of whippets and flat caps, and b) unlimited free pies does nothing for Solomona's muffin tops.
