Sinfield's done plenty of tv work with the BBC on their Challenge Cup coverage and been just fine in front of the cameras - certainly an improvement on the Sculthorpe/Farrell "well, y'know" monologues we used to be treated to.

It wasn't even a good script. When Leeds were short and knocked on, she did her tedious 'i'm watching it live' description, then when decision came up she was like 'Yes, just as we all thought, held up short, scrum to the defence' ...Well no, you might be missing something that happend to make it a scrum to the defence. The whole thing enraged me to be honest.

I never said it was a prerequisite of a RL player to have a TV personality. But if you're going to be on TV as a guest (or invited to be on TV as some kind of pundit) you expect a bit of enthusiasm. The guy is supposed to give an impression of the sport. As a professional sportsman (and a captain and an international at that) he is going to deal with people and the media a lot.

He needs some media training if he's going to be in the media.

Exactly. It's pretty insulting that they try and pass something off as so obvious despite the fact they've shortened the clip down to cut out minutes of reviewing and on top of that they already know the result. Despite this, they've still managed to mess up in the past! I remember seeing the BBC give Stanley Gene a try last year after the video replay even though it got disallowed! It's just lazy.
