Rugby League is not popular enough anywhere else apart from the 'North' of England, PNG and up the East Coast of Australia to catch on to the extent where a club can have any real commercial success out side of these areas.
So don't try.
Make the sport stronger where it is popular first and then MAYBE, just maybe try expanding.
But not before.
This is how Germany lost Operation Barbarossa in WW2.

What was the first time?
The Golden Point being brought into Superleague?
Paul Gallen is the best second Rower in the world?
Adrian Moreley couldnt keep his high shots down so was sent home by the Roosters?
Eliss and Burgess are decidedly average in the NRL?
VB is the best beer in the world?
Heavyweight cotton footy jumpers are far superior to the 'cheap' ISC polyester ones that feel like a cheap pair of kiddies jamjams?

yeah agree with that
kevin walters has done so much damage to the club. but still if the clubs roots are that weak they cant handle one bad coach.
very disappointing theyve signed another unknown coach

| Why should not Perpignan council be involved , as the club generates quite a bit of cash for the region ?

42850_1303637344.jpg WE ARE WAKEFIELD, WITHOUT THE RICHARDSONS’ WE ARE STRONGER:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42850.jpg |

If league status was based primarily on onfield performance, Wakey would not have anything to worry about as we have for the last 3 years done well in an area which in sport should be the key.
I hate it when Giants fans get all condescending about other clubs when the truth is if KD wasn't bankrolling the cheap season tickets and you hadn't got lucky with HTFC primarily the reason for getting the McAlpine you would have crowds on a par with ours and be playing in a ground worse than ours.
If Wakey could afford to put together the team you have we would get bigger crowds than you are now without any subsidised tickets

but for that seriously rich man huddersfield would still be playing in front of 250 people with a derby against hunslet.

True: Pelo and Fakir off to union on 10 times the salary.
True: McGuire & Bell off contract and not renewed, possibly Walker to leave due to injury.
True: Elima, Ferriol and Guisset at the end of contract and talks not resolved.
Possible: Greenshields targeted by some other club due to being the best FB in SL and possibly the whole Northern Hemisphere.
True: Gates have been lower this year than last.
This does not either support the possibility that the Catalans are in financial crisis nor explain away that they aren't. It would be good to know the scope of the problem if there is one. The bottom line is that of the known departing players only Pelo is a serious loss, others are good but their time has past or they are replaceable. We could further cut our running costs by dropping Carlaw and Sherwin without greatly damaging our on-field success. In fact, we could possibly discuss selling Johnson as we have a decent LF to take his place.
