| Quote: dally messenger "bodies in motion refers to both defence and attack
in attack its getting runners with the ball carrier, rather than the ball carrier running one out
if you run one out its easy to pile on defenders and stop the attacking momentum with dominant tacklers
if you have a few runners going with the man the ball its harder for defenders to pile onto the man with the ball as they have to mark the decoy runners in case they get the ball
so having runners allows for quicker play the balls
in defence of course you want 2 or 3 tacklers on the ball carrier to slow it down and set your line
if you can "turtle" the ball carrier by getting him on his back even better.
the whole idea of defence is not just to make the tackle but to slow the PTB down so you can re-set your defensive line'"
Does this clown think we have never watched the game before?

Seriously though dally, all you've done on this thread is listed a couple of commonly used buzzwords and terms, it doesn't show that you've got any sort of understanding other than you can perhaps identify and name certain things that I would expect an u14s player to know about. Although you do have a point that there is an alarming lack of knowledge about the game from the majority of fans, who are often then so quick to criticise a coach without actually knowing what is going on.

You could help by requesting this thread be locked because it's the most boring attempt ever to make yourself look remotely knowledgable and interesting.
Epic fail.

It's the same for nearly every team which is what Giggedygiggedy doesn't understand.
I'd like to see the 10m idea given a shot, if teams continue to use the current tactic then replace it.

yeah sure you guys knew what these terms meant.
heres another thing to look for
in some teams the fullback is now acting as a 3rd playmaker, often acting as a 2nd receiver.
brett hogdson used to do it at the eels, hayne does it for the eels

I'm still thinking "so what"?
I saw two cars have a bump today. They were two big units. The big grey Volvo dominated the collision. The Fiat Punto was in Disneyland. The RAC had to intervene to carry the Punto off to the vehicle bin.

well as long as you keep bumping this ill add some more :
in attack tackles 1 - 3 are settlers. the idea is to get the ball to the centre of the field, to around the halfway line. often the kick will go to the corner, the attack needs to get the ball to the centre of the field to open up attacking options.
tackles 4 - 6 are when the team will put on more genuine attacking plays. being on the centre of the field they can split with the half on one side, the 5/8th on the other.

| I saw something the other day in a game, one mister with the ball looked as though he was going to pass it to another mister stood at the side of him - but right at the last moment he decided he wasn't going to pass it after all and he was just pretending! Some other misters thought he had passed it and by the time they had realised that he had only pretended to pass it it was too late and he had gone through a gap..... Anybody know what this phenominom is called?
Saw another strange thing yesterday too, one fairly fast mister was running with the ball in both hands then when a really angry looking mister in a different coloured jersey tried to bash him from the side, he put the ball in one hand and then pushed him away with the other one so he couldn't get to him.....
Dally, whats going on here mate? I just can't puzzle it out......

| im betting when you watch a game you just think pass the ball, run hard and thats all there is!
some people like to dig a little deeper.
heres another tip :
when teams are on the attack, one of the playmakers will stand behind the play at times and count the number of defenders on each side of the ruck. if they spot a side where they have an advantage theyll call for the ball to go to that side
