| Saw the coverage of this...
O'Neill is the lowest scum in sports admin.
He looked like the bloke who gets asked questions out of embarrassment because no-one is really interested in him or what he sells.
Bit like Clive Woody...

Was this some kind of debate with reps from Aussie sports there?

| Yeah happens every year, all the 4 top dogs from the footy codes get together with Cricket as well and talk about where their games are going blah blah blah, usually, the union guy is ignored lol.
For the past 2 years, the GayFL head honcho hasn't bothered to turn up, he must think he's too good to be amongst the lesser codes hobnobs so he sends one of hios play things in his place.
I didn't see it yesterday so I can say much about it, but the reports in the media about O'neil and the ARU/Olympics thing is Union using RL to get some much needed headlines.
There will be more shortly as SOO is getting pretty close.

| $4million for one game is pretty impressive though.
Interesting the NRL (Gallop) using the international chances line to outmaneouvre Aussie Rules. That is why most league players in Europe are tempted to switch to union and with the greatest respect Australia has hardly championed international rugby league over recent years. I'd love international rugby league to grow and flourish, but naturally, not force-fed to confused locals as in the often used rugby union method. A competitive international rugby league scene coupled by a strong NRL would do some serious damage to Aussie Rules and Aussie union in my opinion.

| When the NRL signed the last TV contract with ch numpty, the money for the Internationals was put aside as well, and each year until the next TV deal, it goes up if I remember right, that's why we have seen more promotion of IRL over the last few seasons, it's set to continue.

| the bloodyslow is small compared to SOO, 4 million wouldn't be half maybe even a quarter what the SOO makes.

Just found this,
O'Neill trying to talk Union up.
A bit like Nero fiddling while Rome burns.
In another article he's crapping on about how he won't poach any more NRL stars unless they "come for the challenge on an incentive based contract".
www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 5851097651
If they go, they go for the dough.
I also like when he says "Union is emerging from a trough", what a load of rubbish. Union is deep in the trough in Australia and still on the downswing.
They haven't yet hit rock bottom because all he has to talk about is Rugby League.

I like how he didn't offer one bit of evidence for the "emerging from the trough" crap.
Perhaps because he had NIL
