The only reason an NRL player would move to SL would if they weren't getting a regular start in NRL or won't getting a decent contract from an NRL club. If I was a Super League player I'd be gagging to play in the NRL. If I had kids playing RL I'd try and get the over to Australia as often as possible to play.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

Some players will always come for the life style & a different out look on life. The drop would be beneficial to super league as the top players will go to the NRL which will be of benefit to GB/England/Wales ect also freeing up spaces for younger players at home, these young players will be attracted to stay in league as they will see a good living open to them. We may even see the flow of Union players comming over again? all thanks to & funded by Australia. It is a win win situation for Europe & the Southern hemisphere. My only doubt is that the £/AUD difference will not allways be favourable to Australians the good exchange rate is the reason the NRL is getting interested in young Europeans & the reason that some Southerners are not comming the other way. |

Funding to increase the salary cap? It's widely expected that with News Ltd leaving the NRL that the bidding for the rights will be quite intense. The agreement to move towards an independent commission was barely signed before channel 7 and channel 10 publicly said that they want the NRL, while channel 9 has said they don't want to lose the rights. 2013 is going to a big payday for RL in Oz. |

no, it would cost them around $1million+ to run a Q'land cup team. Personally I think the NRL should fund their team to give them chance to grow and one day get ready for a full franchise (or at least a shared one with Darwin).

| Nice to see no Barrie Mackenzie, AP and League Freak giving their predictable dribble to a thread like this. The best of SL could compete in the NRL easily whenever there English, Australian, French or Welsh 
There’s no doubt that the NRL aided the New Zealand world cup win in 2008 as many of the players that featured in that squad featured in the NRL.
The fact that we have a good super league over here combined with good players playing in the NRL then England could well win the World Cup in the next 20 years. I must also stress that I don’t mean the back end of the 20 years either!
After all Aussies won’t pick the best from both leagues unlike England and New Zealand |
