They have proven repeatedly the no act of self publicity is too low for them and there is no guarantee that they wouldn't resort to acts to bring the NRL into an unfavourable light in the future.

I think you missed my main point which is that the NRL needs to be careful to ensure that grubs like Nasser and Mundine don't get another opportunity to promote their seedy circus through SBW.

I agree that harbouring grudges is rarely profitable and if SBW is genuinely remorseful then he should get a sympathetic hearing. He is a talented and exciting player to watch and it is sad to see his skills wasted in the garbage that is yawnion.

But I am also aware that

He broke a contract.
He had a 4 year injury plagued RL career - hardly a massive legacy. Indeed after he left the Bulldogs improved dramatically and the NRL has had its best viewing figures. The NRL owe him nothing.

I'd welcome him back if it can be done in a way that is positive for RL - but if that can't be guaranteed why bother?

i think you forget SBW already paid the dogs $750,000 of his own money to get out of his contract

plus the dogs are asking for a further $2 million in compensation for whoever signs him

so i think thats enough to cover walking out on his contract

Would anyone want to risk him?..Seem to remember when he was in his pomp he was an awesome player but far too injury prone....Dodgy knees IIRC.....Can*t remember how many games he played in union but think he missed a few in the NRL due to injury as well.
