| Quote: cadoo "In a nutshell.
Brian Carney is the only one of the sky commentary team who talks sense. He said that teams should have only 2 or 3 world class imports from either Australia or New Zealand and the rest should be eligible to play England or Great Britain.
For an overseas player to be successful (IMO) he has to be one of the best players in the team & one of the best players, in his position, in super league. At the moment this is not the case with too many imports.'"

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

| Damo is obviously a Leeds fan who wants to increase the number of overseas players at his club.
Webb, Donald, Delaney, Leuluai, Buderus, Lauitiiti and Eastwood.
So much for grow your own at Leeds eh!

Leeds like Wigan produce more than enough home grown talent than the rest of super league put together. Every super league club will probably have an ex Leeds or Wigan academy player in it. Both are focus on producing home grown players more than any other super league team with St Helens only really catching up.
Can’t speak for Wigan but Leeds whilst Gary Hetherington is at the top will always have the perfect blend of the best talent in the local area along side class over sea’s players. Hence why we are at the top of the league. I do hope however that a local lad is good enough to take over the likes of Webb, Donald, Delaney, Leuluai, Buderus, Lauitiiti and Eastwood in the next few seasons rather than given the right because he’s local. That’s when we’ll start beating the Aussies.
Quote: Rogues Gallery "All the Australians in SL currently are shocking, bar Greg Bird.'"
Nothing shocking about the Australians who won a grand finals winners ring with Leeds this year. Again I must stress that home grown players must earn the right to over take these Australians rather than given the right.

| And how many SL chairmen will vote to reduce the overseas number to three per club?
Answer, four out of fourteen.
The rest won't because they haven't got the players to fill the vacated positions.
As one former CEO told me "The tail wags the dog in Super League".

| The problem with having 6 overseas players each is that some teams can bring over 1 or 2 quality ones but then the rest are average. But these average players are getting games ahead of their British equivalents just because they are taking up a quota spot. Eventually, I'd like to see the quota go down to 3 or less.

| Yes great idea. All the clubs should spend even more of their sky tv money on signing more Aussies instead of investing in our youth
Using an example from last nights line up we had two Wigan lads in the team. One moved to Humberside for a first team spot and the other spent time in the reserves until Tim Smith was injured.

Not true, Tomkins played just as many games as Tim Smith prior to him being injured. Oh, and Briscoe couldn't get a game behind the best British fullback ever, is the reason why he left. That and he's gash.

| 3 non eligible England or France players and they must have played rep football within the last 3 years. That would sort it out straight away!

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Signing players like Inglis, Slater or Hayne should always be encouraged if it's possible to do it. Same with the like of Bird, Lyon or Johnson. But there are far, far too many players who are brought over who are too old.'"
I have to agree with you.
Over the past few seasons only
Lyon
Barrett
Menzies
Bird
have relly cut the mustard as overseas signings, we need top quality. At Wigan we have had many good players like Carmont and Pat Richards but they only look good because other players in that position are so poor. We have also signed too many average aussies, IMO the signings fromm overseas should be top quality like Barret and Lyon or a great deal who will do the job like Carmont and Phelps, anywhere in between likemost of the imports just don't justify a place in the team over an English player.
