39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

it wouldn't be nice in the real world to flash the money about and all have get what they want, had we not listened to the WMDC and encouraged to go with them on the thornes park project and had chosen Stanley from the start I'm sure we would of been now looking at the stands being erected,'"
From what I have heard and seen they appear to be further along the road. It's not a pop at wakey. With a new stadium Wakey could easily get averaging around 8,000 and would be great to have in super league.

Doncaster are different. It's not just about the stadium.
Do you think Salford would become a succesful super league club with a new stadium? With really good crowds. Isn't it gonna be a 20,000 all seater stadium, whats the point?
Wakey IMO actually at least have a chance of filling a new ground.

Bit of a non story this one. Land preperation due to start in March(links on salford council website). Doesn't matter when it's built now as long as it's in time for the next round of franchises.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

The best bit about this thread is the word ' Unlikely ' in the title , considering it is the middle of November next week
Your post is correct however

You'll be safe anyway. From what I've been told by someone who was on the board that decided who got a license last time, Wakefield were very lucky to get in last time and haven't improved much since.

Yeah, kept in the dark and fed on ...
We've got a nice shiny video of what it could look like, but when and for how much we don't have a clue. Apparently we will soon have a stadium shop up at xscape if that helps.

i'm always amazed no one has tried to rebrand one of the clubs around here as 'manchester' and try to sell the team to a wider audience, and before you ask i'm not maurice lindsay

| Regarding the Wakefield & District Community Stadium at the old Newmarket colliery site. Outline planning permission was put in 6 weeks ago with detailed planning permission to be submitted as soon as this comes back which is expected very soon. The decision on the detailed planning is expected in March.

Unless I have it wrong, weren't Salford were given planning permission 4 years ago, as reported here: www.salfordadvertiser.co.uk/news ... te_victory
I know things changed when Red City Developments went pop in 2008, but if the plans were for real and they were actually intending on building a stadium, why was no building work done between november 2005 and July 2008? Wilkinson always maintained that ground works had to be left for 6 months and then is was a 52 week build. Surely the stadium should have been finished by May 2007?

| rlYeah, Salford's stadium is never happeningrl
Quote: Starbug "The best bit about this thread is the word ' Unlikely ' in the title
That's the reason it's a no-story. Anyone vaguely in the know in Salford (well, a reader of the Scarlet Turkey or a "Fan" of the club on Facebook) knows that the stadium won't be complete in 2010. Problem is, rather than people looking at it and saying "Great. After all this work it's finally starting in March", people look at it and go "Aw, no fair. It won't be ready for 20 months".
