| The RFL already do a cashback incentive for amateur clubs. It was launched in earnest this year but the main balls up was them wanting £100pp Mid June for 2 end of season internationals as the package included a Puma match shirt and they take 12 weeks to be delivered apparently. However, they are already pushing the scheme for Wembley weekend next year which gives clubs a lot more notice to put something on. They have a couple of fellas working full time at the RFL on it, including going round visiting clubs, one of whom is ex-referee Ray Tennant.

That's a bit odd, especially if they sell international tickets to the amateur clubs. What about this weekend, are BARLA fixtures going ahead.

| No. It is merely still regaining lost ground from the super league war.
Which part of that is a struggle???

Can they afford to play the games on the Friday night or Sunday?

The marketing team at Wigan must have the easiest job in the world.
RL fans in Wigan will always come and watch them.
Wigan could sack all their current squad and hire the entire Celtic Crusaders side and the fans would still come and watch

Not really true, you obviously don't know anything about late 70s and early 80s at Wigan.
They have an easy job at the moment in getting decent crowds and to be honest they don't need bigger ones, we already dwarf other clubs other than Leeds with the crowds we get, but you would expect leeds to be higher as they have won 3 championships on the run. The Wigan marketing team are the only ones going the extra mile to get bigger crowds, we got over 20,000 for a game that normally gets 14-16,000 and 14,000 against harlequins at home, and they have done research and found out that we have an old fan base overall and have made season tickets £30 for kids.
Don't post about a topic you know nothing about.

It hasn't stopped you 4838 times
So what ideas do the Wigan marketing team bring in to raise the crowds at the games which will be less well attended?
I'm genuinely interested.
london Harlebroncos have tried having a street dancing competition, a family 'day' (that started an hour before kick off) and most unbelievably of all ...they showed Harlequins UNION side playing Cardiff Blues...in the bar on a big screen...for the paltry sum of just TEN POUNDS admission to try and raise money.

I was going to say the same thing about you but I'm nice to you
Ok, well for the quins game at home they sold the whole North stand to a local company called Heinz (incase you don't know who they are ) which is 5,500 seats which don't normally get sold as this is the away stand and we get no away fans from Celtic, Quins, Hudds, Catalans, so they dont even bother opening the stand. This meant extra revenue and a big crowd for what is normally a poop game and atmosphere.
They have also given out free tickets out in schools and done great deals for local sports teams.
I am not sure if you were aware of the 'BIG ONE' which started this year but they basically did cheap tickets, all sorts of deals, t-shirts, mugs, car stickers and just marketed the hell out of a game and got a huge crowd.
No other super league club does things like this, and the thing is they are the ones who need to.
If Wigan can get 20,000 fans at home then England can get 75,000 at old trafford, no question.
Cheap tickets
Discount for season ticket holders at clubs
Clever marketing
Get the clubs on board
Free tickets for kids
Family tickets
Discounts for big groups
Competitions for who can sell the most tickets
Interviews about game on tv and radio
Adverts all over the place
Ticket details sent by post to all season ticket holders of the clubs
Big stadium, top class facilities
Big events on the day
There is so much more that could go on this list, and alot of them don't even involve cutting prices, but most of them would help get bigger crowds.

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |

| Agreed they should play all England v Oz and NZ games at 30-40,000 grounds. France at 20-25,000 grounds.
Simple really best tickets 25quid, behind the sticks 20 quid, under 16's free
Sell clubs (amateur and professional) 10 tickets for the price of 8. Clubs make 40-50 quid on every 10 tickets sold.
RFL get wads of cash, clubs earn a fair whack and RL gets on telly in fornt of big crowds. so simple yet so far away!

The fact that once Warrington got a new stadium and started winning they got crowds like saints and Bradford says otherwise. There are so many rugby fans who watch at home, it clear from the stats on who watches sport on sky sports.
Whenever a team gets to a final there is suddenly 10,000 more fans from no where.
Yes it's easier in Wigan, but surely the same thing can be done on a smaller scale even in the lower leagues. It's so simple!

Try telling the good people at Harlequins how simple it is!!!!
I wasn't in England when London Broncos made the challenge cup final....but I'm sure they would have had a decent following at Wembley.
Surely it couldnt be that hard to tempt some of them back
