Never seen a team play so different within the same season, it reminds me slightly of us in 2007 when Cas were in our league, but at laest we won the Northern Rail Cup before we fell apart!

| Well done to Barrow... box ticked for them too now.
It's taken a lot of investment and it proves you can buy a winning team.
Hopefully see you in the final although we have a hell of a lot of work to do yet.

Depends on the bookies mate. I'd say anything between 80/1 and 100/1.
500/1 would be the price for no points.

tbf he is right. The chances of a drop goal being the first scoring play are very slim indeed. But I'd be amazed if the bookie gave anything higher than 50/1.

Just checked with my online bookie Bet365 and they're offering 80/1.

I agree with the original poster that 12/1 are ridiculously poor odds for a drop goal being the first score. I've been watching rugby league for over 40 years, well over 500 live games, and only once have I seen a game where a drop goal was the first score (Martin Offiah for Salford, I think against Wigan) and there were suspicions about the reason for that. 500/1 would seem about right as long as the players had not been nobbled. It is interesting that no-one last night even attempted a drop goal until Barrow had scored their first try.

More than likely it went down to 12/1 exactly because too many people were backing it and so the bookies panicked.
Tote offer 50/1 with most other bookmakers offering 80/1 or 100/1.
I have a bet every weekend and it has never occurred to me in over 10 years to back first score drop goal.

It also happened for Simms Cross away at Wigan in the cup a few years back, but there was no malice in that - it was just so the fans could take pictures of the scoreboard when they were beating Wigan! You just wouldn't consider 12/1 unless there was something up. Lot of chinese whispers in Cumbria yesterday.
I think I've only even seen one game where a drop goal was the first scoring play, that was an U21 final that finished 1-0.

This is why events unnerve me.: |

Widnes beat Bradford once by a score of 2-1, all points from dropped goals.
Andy Gregory scored the winner - would have been about 6 November 1983.
