I think you have got that spot on damo.
I also reckon Altrincham FC will beat Manchester United 6 - 0 in this seasons FA Cup final, Celtic Crusaders will be Superleague minor premiers and England will win the next soccer world cup.

Why bring a retired Welsh international into a 4 nations thread?

| Australia are in the final. No doubt about that.
England have a remote chance of beating New Zealand to get to the final in a one off match. That is about it.
For me England should look to be playing on form players and not just pick players purely on reputation. Also looking ahead to the world cup in future years and giving youth a chance will help.

| "Is international RL worth it?"
It is, any where else except England. The RFL really do treat international RL games as minor events. Games in Donny, Wigan and Huddersfield are really going to get the juices flowing. What makes me scratch my head is that in 2003 (iirc) the GB vs Aus game got a shade under 40k supporters at the COM. That attendance has never been beaten. Why? Because since then not one international game has been played at a venue that can hold that many supporters (Elland Roads capacity been reduced for internationals in the past to around 36k iirc). The RFL is a joke when it comes to internationals

| You would have to say New Zealand and Australia will be favourites to meet in the final. But if England can put their best team on the park they have a chance of an upset and sneaking in. France are in there for the experience and I don't expect them to win a game. But if they can run one of the other nations close that would be great.
All in all the concept is good and it will give other nations the chance to rumble with the big boys via the Euro and Pacific Cups
This will improve then 2nd tier nations which is what international rugby league needs.

I remember when plenty of tools were tipping Australia before the RLWC 2008 and saying the tournament shouldn't be played etc.

Anyone backing the Kiwis that day must have had rocks in their head, sane people wouldn't have backed them...I bet you wont back them next time.

England could not get within a bulls roar of Australia, and probably New Zealand,Papua&new Guinea samoa andTonga will have a good chance of beating the poms,Australia could field a second team that would beat England.

It plays a big part for the Australian and Nz sides' financing, main sponsors for Australia iirc. When I posted originally Australia and Nz were both saying they couldn't play in France because of their sponsorship being censored in France.
Hence Nz and Oz conceding to France and France starting the tourney with a minimum of 4 from 6 points - odds on for the final.
Obviously, after all the hair pulling and whinging from the Australian side (funny how you say that it's the poms that whinge) they've backtracked and realised that, yes they can play in France while submitting to the local laws (just like every other sporting side in the world) shucks!

| This week Catalans beat Hull fielding a side with only 4 players who won't be eligible for France come the 4 nations. Of those 4, one of them was covering the injured half-back Bosc while Maguire (hooker) was covering for Kane Bently. Just from the Catalan side we have 15 of the starting 17 needed for France, the one key position we need to fill is stand off, a big issue, but a huge step forward where almost all the starting 17 will have SL experience.
I mentioned 4, the last of the 4 was a front row forward, we have decent SL level options there too.

| Thats all well and good but France need players from several Superleague clubs and not just one, and inparticularly one that is only a mid-table Superleague team.
Good progress and hope it continues.... but a long long way to go!!!!
