He'll be on very good wages too.'"
He's not much older than Orford (who we were also reportedly after), will be cheaper and saves us a quota place.

| Like has been said i personally wouldn't want him at my club simply because he's Saints through and through and i cant see him performing for any other side like he did for them.
If he was still a world beater Saints wouldn't be letting him go !!

Do you not think it's slightly underwhelming though? He's been inconsistent this year.
The signing can go one way or the other.
Put it this way, the rest of the league would be more worried if you had announced Orford instead.
I can see both sides of the signing, good luck to him.

| He's still a decent player and he's certainly been the best British halfback of the SL era, he'll do a job for Hull.

Saints wanted him for next year. So did several other clubs. He may be past his best, but he will finally bring a whole bunch of things that we've desperately needed for years.
Plus we know that he can do the business in SL, which hasn't always been the case for high profile NRL signings.
He's also English, saving us a quota spot and any potential visa issues. And cap space over some of the other names touted around in all likelihood. That gives us more options to strengthen elsewhere.
Looking at the whole package, this is a good signing.

It's underwhelming to those who expected us to sign a world class no 7 like Orford. He's a 'go to' man, something that we've been missing since Cooke left, and even if he's not playing 100%, he's still capable of that one special play.
Totally agree with you, it could be a masterstroke, or it could fail miserably - time will tell.

Saints wanted him for next year. '" But they wouldn't guarantee they wanted him the year after which is probably why he took the offer from Hull and understandably.
Gutted to see him go and good luck too him for the future.

| In a way I'm suprised and in a way I'm not.
I think Sean's past his prime. I was hoping we could get him for another year. But if he's got a good contract off on the table, then he's quite free to sign it.
I'll miss him at Saints, and I do think Saints may stuggle at first without him, but all goof things must come to and end. There's no denying he's done a lot for Saints. I say best of luck to him.
I think this signing does 1 thing and that's confirm Hull (FC) as a 2nd tier club. Signing an ageing player for what is presumably big money, is something few of the top tier clubs (Leeds, Saints etc..) do.

That doesn't make sense.

So you were hoping to have him for another year, but since hull have signed him for next year that makes them a 2nd tier club?

Yes.
(I assume) Hull have offered him significantly more money than Saints did. In RL the practice of signing big name vets. Is indicative of a 2nd tied team that needs either the gate money (un-likely) or wants to take the short-term lift over long-term planning (most probably).
Think Robbie Paul - Bradford to Hudds then Salford.
Think Paul Newlove - Saints to Castleford
Think Mick Cassidy - Wigan to Widnes
and....
Thing Sean Long - Saints to Hull
