The bottom line is that on public transport, you've be very unlikley to do the journey back to Lloret after the evening finish of the game, so an overnight stay in Perpignan will have to part of of your plans.
Your nearest transport hub is Girona, so you're going to have to get from Lloret to Girona. I think there is a public service bus that goes up there and I am sure I was looking at a link for something similar, but can't find it again. (You might want to have a look at the transport links for Girona Airport and research from there). I assume the bus from Lloret will arrive at the main bus station in Girona, which just happens to be an interchange with the trains, so no worries finding the trains when you get there)
From Girona to Perpignan, there is an international train that does the journey a couple of times each day. There's one IIRC, just before 10am and this is about the only one you can get (the other is late afternoon and thus, too late for the match). You need to get your train tickets in advance and they are available in the UK via a couple of companies. The best site I know for international rail advice is 'the man in seat 61' .... Just google 'seat 61' and research from there.
There's a train back to Spain fairly early in the morning (IIRC, around 9-ish), so you should with decent bus connections at Girona, be back in Lloret by mid Sunday afternoon.

| Thats pretty much what I have been thinking, thanks for taking the time to post.
Disappointing !
It is looking increasingly likely that we are going to miss the match now.
Oh well, I look forward to fighting it out with some random soccer fan who refuses to let us watch it in 'his' bar.

| What's the aversion to hiring a car? It's a cracking drive from Lloret to Perpignan.

I have absolutely no idea how to get to Perpignan for the game, if its even feasible and what it may cost.
Anyone ?'"
most cas fans that travel to watch the catalans game stay in lloret, again this year over 100 are already booked in and we will travel to the game and back through catalan sports who provide a good service,i think there needs to be a minimum number for them to make it work.
lloret its self isnt the best place in the world but being amongst your own fans having a few beers in the sun makes it worthwhile and i also think its a lot cheaper than staying in perpignan, this years trip has cost me £140 for flights and 4 nights all inclusive aswell as all the transfers although our game is in march so it will get more expensive in summer.

| Disco : on holiday, I have 2 rules. No car. No mobile phone.
The car thing has kind of evolved because I dont fancy driving abroad, not speaking the lingo etc but mainly because if I have a pint or two etc the night before, I dont fancy getting nicked.
BraytonTiger, I have been looking at the Cas fans thread about Lloret, unfortunately according to CST, not a single Wigan fan has enquired about staying in Lloret.

Fair do's I suppose.
All I can suggest then is that you stay a bit further south: Blanes, Malgrat, Santa Susanna, etc. The coast train comes up from Barcelona but turns inland at Blanes so Lloret isn't serviced. You have to leave the train at Blanes then get a bus. I've never checked (cos I like driving over there) but I guess you'd have an easier time with trains if you're staying at one of the resorts with a railway station. The coast resorts all pretty much the same anyway.
I do know you can get a coast train from any resort south of Blanes into Barcelona and then an intercity up to Perpignan. No idea about timings though.
Of course the best way is to convince enough other fans to use Lloret so that it's worth CST putting a bus on.

The Cats is a shortened version of The Wildcats
On this thread it seems that everything someone has suggested you've rejected so why dont you do a bit of research yourself?

There's a regular local train from Argeles or Coulior to Perps (or a bus from Canet sur Plage - cheap and cheerful but next door to Perpignan) and Foti runs a bus from the centre of town (Le Castellet) to the ground.
If there's not a bunch of you stopping in Lloret, I'd definitely look at one of the French Coastal towns as more practical.
