I think that the thing that we're perhaps missing, in our enthusiasm over an excuse to go to Paris (ahh ... shopping, great food [iand[/i RL!) is the other news contained in that: meetings between the French RL and the French government, and what seems to have followed, including the 'assurance of support'.
That, it seems to me, is very optimistic, particularly given the history of RL in France.
