you live in australia and dont have much clue.
queensland will in a couple of decades become the 2nd most populated state in australia behind nsw.
with RL dominant in those no other sport will match RL, not even your beloved AFL.
queensland is a RL heartland, and we dont have enough clubs to service them.
more nrl teams in brisbane will also have the advantage of making it tougher for AFL, and could well send the brisbane lions broke.
queensland will be where the AFL as a so called national code fails very badly.

In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. Believe the NS Leagues Club owned 20%. Though no-one seems to have mentioned it in the last couple of years.

To be fair most people class the Gold Coast Giants/Seagulls/Chargers as one team because it was always the Gold Coast ARL team and all it ever did was change ownership a couple of times.
It's be like saying Souths/Manly/Auckland etc all are different teams because they are now privately owned.

wakey wakey, RL has been dominant in NSW and Q'land for 100 years and is still a decade behind AFL on teh National stage!
Another Brisabane team IS NOT EXPANSION. It is simply shoring up the heartlands. After 100 years you would think we would have our only two cities secure by now!
N( ATIONAL)RL. The clues in the name!

how is RL behind AFL when its season has 40 million more viewers on TV than AFL every year.
we are far and away the bigger sport when you look at all fans combined.
being in a state where AFL is dominant has addled your thoughts.
you need to spend some time in queensland & nsw where people dont give a s**t about AFL.
as these states represent the majority of australia, RL is in a very strong position.
another club on the central coast and another in queensland will be massive for the game

NRL has its TV viewers due to being popular in the two most regionally populous states. After that we are light years behind!
The AFL trounce us in:
Media coverage
Individual club revenues
Individual Club profits
Bums on seats
Club sponsorship $'s
Code sponsorship $'s
Members
Expansion into non heartlands
Future plans for expansion
FFS in my city that is half the size of Brisane the two AFL teams are bigger than the Broncos, who have the advantage of a whole city to themselves. When the Broncos are selling out every game then it is clearly time for another Brisbane team.
If we had teams in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne that were as popular and well supported as the Swans and Lions you might have a point.
I take no joy in seeing the NRL be so insular and losing ground year on year but not living in Sydney gives a clearer picture of what is happening on the National stage and at the moment the NRL is being left way behind.

| yes when you include both crowds and TV ratings RL does come out well in front of AFL.
you've even mentioned the reason, its popular with a majority of the population.
as long as we maintain number 1 spot, im not fussed about the sports that trail in our wake.
the queensland RL clubs all get the highest crowds in the NRL. with the population of queensland booming, the state needs more teams, probably two.
another team in west brisbane circa 2012 will further enhance our hold on queensland.
with the population booming, we will take advantage of this.
it will also make life much more difficult for the brisbane lions as well, another positive.
anyway mate, rather than spending most of your time talking up AFL, why not try and get out to some NRL games, and actually watch more of the NRL yourself.
