Not first hand, no, as I was in the car before I knew what was happening. I was appalled and ashamed that day and every single idiot on that pitch should have been banned for life. As you are such an expert in that incident, you will also be well aware that the club was punished and did a massive campaign to sort our issues out including the fan’s charter. Feel free to bring up an incident from nearly 20 years ago if it makes you feel better, personally I’d be more concerned that you have an element that think it’s clever to light a flare at the back of a packed stand. People in glass houses and all that.

Can't understand why any fan takes a flare in.?Irrespective of which teams fans do it. Doesn't add anything imo and someone will end up getting hurt.

Surely the RFL will step in , Wakefield Trinity have on two previous occasions been found guilty of racist chanting and of throwing smoke canisters .

Wakefield Wildcats have been fined £20,000 after being found to be in breach of Rugby Football League rules on racist chanting by fans.
The incident took place in last August's Super 8s play-off match against Bradford at Belle Vue Stadium.
Half the fine has been suspended until the end of the season, but Wakefield also have to pay £1,000 for a previous misdemeanour in a game with Castleford.
They got the suspended fine last April after smoke canisters were thrown.
In the match with the Bulls, the Wildcats were found to be in violation of a number of RFL rules with regard to the racist chanting, including responsibility for the behaviour of spectators.
"This was on the basis that the club's immediate response to the incidents did not reach the standards required by the Operational Rules," said a statement by the RFL.
"The tribunal gave credit to Wakefield for the steps taken after the match to address the issue, but felt the sanction should reflect the serious nature of the incidents." |

I don't care which club they support - anyone taking flares or other such items into a sports ground, should be strung up by the larger of their two testicles from the gates of the stadium.

The lack of ANY stewarding at the far end of the ground, from where a loud "bang" came from may mean that there are difficulties in identifying the idiots who seemed to be left well alone for most of the second half of the game.
The didn't seem to be any "flares", zero smoke, just one loud "bang".
Whoever was in that particular stand should have been dealt with by the stewards, who, were "happy" to let them climb all over the seating etc, etc.
Not one steward approached the group of around a dozen "fans" that were in that stand ??

There you go then. It’s obviously the stewards faults for Wakefield fans behaving like knuckle dragging cavemen isn’t it. Was it also the stewards fault for racist chanting? |
