If you genuinely think it is the responsibility of professional clubs to get the sport played in more schools then there is no point continuing this conversation. What club is inspiring people to play RU in Leeds? But I can guarantee that RU will be played in more schools than RL in Leeds and there are also definitely more amateur RU clubs in the city. But hey I am sure a team in Toronto (and possibly another French team) is gonna push participation and school funding through the roof! |

OK, two thing there.
Firstly, most clubs have community departments. Their job is literally to engage with schools and amateur clubs. If was a long time since I was at school but I distinctly remember Leeds Rhinos players coming and running PE lessons.
Secondly, you said that there were people who "didn't know about RL" in those areas mentioned. That's an issue that goes beyond schools and something that clubs can address themselves, but you (probably deliberately) twisted it into an issue about schools. |

HOW MANY TIMES?????
£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
