However, because you can't escape talking to people (friends/pub/shops) you still pick up on trivia such as - Big names in the top 3 UK sports (Association, Cricket, Union), whatever's happening in the latest Reality show, the basics of some sitcoms.
Granted, as a teacher I get more of this because I work with over 300 students who all bring me up to date with this stuff, but even when I worked in an office with two mutes I still couldn't avoid it. Do you really not go to online Sports sites, really not follow the news at all (even uncle's copy of the Mail?), not watch the news? (If you don't, you should, there'll be an election soon - you need to be informed).
ps
For god sake why is it so hard to accept that i haven't heard of this guy - i am not just saying it to cause an argument or pretend to be dumb i really do not take any interest in Rugby Union, Reality TV shows or read newspapers that are generally full of celebrity gossip and other associated mindnumbing rubbish that the majority of the country partake in, i dont talk to many people , i dont go shopping, i dont go to the pub and people who i do talk to know what interests me and what doesn't, therefore they tend not to talk about things of little or no interest to me.
if i go on sports websites i only look at the sports i am interested in - Rugby Union isn't one of them - even if this bloke was the lead story i would have more than likely ignored it as it was of no interest to me, same with the sports news on TV when i watch it i take notice of what is of interest to me and ignore the bits that aren't.
I am not having a dig at Rugby Union as a sport or the people who have an interest in this sport, i am not denying it is a big sport in this country and that lots of people watch it and follow it thats their choice i just dont understand why it has become such a big issue because i genuinely haven't heard of this guy !!.

| Quote: Roofs "My club has been through administration, almost going under, debt, you name it. But through the passion and dedication of some amazing people (the Rovers Supporters Group) we pulled through it and are now doing fine. By sorting it I meant chipping away at it slowly (better merchandising, increased sponsorship, reduced wagebill etc), like our neighbours Hull (who were £2million in debt) have gradually done.
We will do this whilst staying true to our roots in East Hull, not moving around, sh****ng on fans (e.g. like those in Bridgend) at the first sign of failure.
Chip away at it? wow great plan. you should be in charge of getting us of the recession. So it was the rovers supporters group who saved your club? you sure? how much money did they pump in then, exactly? The reality is you overextended yourselves, filled your team with aussies (all the things you give us stick for) and now you are in trouble but hey stick you head in the sand and waste your time trolling my club.
And don't give me any crocodile tears for us south wales fans because you were just as much an anti-crusaders bore before the move.
Widnes are a great team who i have a lot of respect for and even the most upset widnes fan hasn't been as much of an as you.

Nope, I'd never heard of him either. In Leigh/w*gan (and i'm sure many other areas too) most people don't care about union so they don't talk about it. If i'm looking up sports news i'll go straight to the RL section. I did hear about this guy when it was in the news that he had 'come out' but I had no interest so I didn't pay attention and if you'd have asked me 5 minutes later what his name was I'd have already forgotten. Only union players I know are Wilkinson, Johnson, O'Driscoll and the big french guy with a beard. Why is it so hard to believe that people wouldn't have heard of this guy? Is he supposed to be really well known in the UK?

Could have sworn this is the Virtual Terrace rather then the Crusaders forum.
End of the day Rovers are a long-standing traditional RL club, who, like many promoted teams have had to spend beyond the means to survive in SL, but many clubs in SL have had to do the same at some point since it's inception.
Have no time for the Crusaders because I don't see what you will bring to SL (certainly will never contribute to other clubs coffers I know that).
If they prove me wrong though and are a success I will (as with Les Catalans) admit to been partly wrong, but can't see it been any more of a success in Wrexham then it was in Bridgend.
(the fact you're resorting to publicity stunts already doesn't bode well IMO ).

| I'd heard the name, but had no idea of his achievements - including his coming out - before this happened, so I don't find it hard to believe that Daz had never heard about him at all.

Bollox - I don't smoke.
Will certainly be an interesting year or so, maybe I'll be wrong and the 9000 at the Leeds game will stick around eh.

| I doubt it personally but I'd consider anything over 5000 as a great success considering last year.
It's okay with hindsight but if you'd have said at Christmas that after 2 games the average gate would be 9k you'd have spat your beer on your computer in laughter

That's awful as in "played less than half a dozen games and already an international".
Farrell did well for the England team. He was playing in a struggling team but if you check out the tackle counts, he more than held his own. He just wasn't outstanding.
