| Quote ="onlyanorthernsoul"True enough but we had about 9-10 first teamers out at any one time for 3/4 of the season. It caught us out as we had a light squad really, then there was losing the quality of Ferres and Robinson having to retire. Not sure its the worst of any team but I've watching the giants for 20 odd years and I can't remember a season like it. Having said that we still lost most games by only a score or two so I'd like to think we'll be a different beast next season, with or without anymore signings.'"
Exactly, whilst injuries, early season disruptions and detached team spirit didn't help our cause, we finished bottom because we didn't win enough games, we blew enough chances to win most of those games, so nobodies fault but our own.

| Slight correction to the first post...
Daniel Murray coming in at Salford came from Warrington not through Salford ranks.
Sorry for being anal.

| Ahhh the good old club development of young players is as good or worse than it has ever been.
Reserve teams for SL clubs anyone?

True enough, injuries are part and parcel and Wigan did well.
However Wane mentioned it every game as did Eddie and Stevo and gained much sympathy yet at the end of the season when Wakefield were riddled with injuries and suspensions mainly to their better players this was not mentioned and certainly never used to explain our obvious lack of form at the end of the season - one rule for one etc from the hpypocritical world that is RL.

That's because Wigan - big club, Wakefield - small club.
If they folded tomorrow no one would give a sh*t except for the ten people that show up (and I'm round up the numbers there).
It's f*cking tin pot clubs like Wakey and Cas that are forcing the RFL to persist with the salary cap and thus driving down the quality of Super League every year until we inevitably become nothing more than a feeder competition for Union and the NRL.

Wow, there are some very valid points in that rant, and we are definitely in danger of being a feeder comp/game

I see the champagne hasn't worn off yet then no?
You really are clueless aren't you. You do realise that both of the clubs you mentioned both made the top 8 this year? (given we didn't actually win a game but still)
Oh and for the "10 people that show up" - we did pretty well considering we were the team that increased our attendances the most this year from the year before
Tell me, where would you be if you actually had to own and fund your own stadium without feeding off the football team?
Or where you would've been had you not cheated in 2006 to bring in players (over the cap) to stop you going down? ha.
Oh and as for Castleford - they've been consistently in the top 6 for the past 3 years - so how you can still call them a tin pot club is beyond me.
Laughable.

Castleford for me have been the best performing club over the past 3 years considering your financial restrictions. I think Daryl Powell and his staff have done an outstanding job and he must be on the Leeds radar again if the situation at Headingley doesn't improve vastly in 2017. I know it didn't work as planned first time when Powell was less experienced but there must be some unfinished business in the back of his mind. If I was Castleford I'd be trying to get him to extend his contract beyond 2019 because the longer he has on it the larger the compensation will be.

If true, think that will be his career over. He's had chance after chance. Think he's running out of clubs to play for and I don't think any will touch him now.
From the incident described, sounds serious and wouldn't rule out him spending time at inside.
Of course IF true.

It's a shame but he's a really good player when his head is screwed on.
But there's a reason he's had so many clubs and he's just used up the last of his nine lives.

Paul was the first to admit he struggled to get fully up to speed fitness wise when he moved to the Tigers. He couldn't believe the difference in fitness levels at his new club - probably something to do with the ancient systems in place at his old club. After a couple of months adjustment we have a fully-fit player who does long minutes, played out of position at half-back very admirably and has had a superb 2016 season along with Adam Milner sharing the hooking role. He's been great for us.

| I wasn't thrilled when we swapped Moore for McShane but Macca has been an ever present this year for Cas and got better as the year has gone on. Obviously a decent pro, very smart head on him and truth be told, his quality has pushed Milner to 13. Hats off to Powell on that one.
Can any London fans provide any thoughts on the chap a have just signed ?

| McShane was out of shape and out of form, Wakefield needed somebody who was better at the time last year and McShane wanted out of the club which was failing, so the better short-term deal was in Wakey's favour
Moore is a great player when he wants to be, but the lad also seems to have demons off the pitch which have probably finally ruined him.
