Although that does contradict Londo06's earlier post. Also the BBC shows some football Championship games and I think some League Cup games. Although I'd agree with your basic point that live domestic sport is a bit thin on the ground for the BBC. Which may be an advantage if they are looking to increase the amount of domestic sport they show.
2 games a week on Sky and 1 game + highlights shown nationally at a reasonable time on the BBC would be great.

It would be great, but only if the revenue recieved from the TV deals matched what we are currently getting. Otherwise a number of super league clubs would go bust
I would be suprised if we could do that as I doubt sky would be willing to pay much without exclusivity
I would be happy to be wrong as it would be great for the game, but £££ is what clubs need.

| The BBC would be a great coup for RL if they picked up the saturday game.
No money issues
Enthusiastic panel
Free to air publicity for RL
Prime viewing time
But we can al dream eh.

| Best for the next 3-5 years would be for Sky to pick it up and offer the same (or more) money. Any extra money going to develop the lower tier and thank Sky very much for promoting the Championship. In 3-5 years the Championship may just have have hit a marketable level where we could offer it for free to the BBC and actually get interest in SL from the masses. Maybe 5 years after that the BBC would pay for it.

How about we don't raise the salary cap (because that's all that Wigan fans want, moan and whinge about) but get clubs financially stable first and clubs regularly turning a profit?

What do you classify as domestic sport?
Wimbledon - Tennis is a domestic sport.
Championship football is domestic sport.

Yep. That's far more important and beneficial to the game than an increase in the cap which wouldn't see our ability to compete on wages with the NRL or Union increase by much.

Wimbledon is not a domestic competition. It does not involve domestic competitors.
Championship football is though, although not elite.
Not that it matters. Just because they don't show (much of) it, doesn't mean they won't.

| Will never happen, but surely the best outcome would be something like...
Friday 8pm (Sky)
Saturday 12pm (ESPN)
Saturday 2pm (ESPN)
Saturday 6pm (BBC)
Sunday 2pm (Sky)
Sunday 4pm (Sky)
Sunday 6pm (ESPN)
BBC Highlights - Sunday 11pm
Then we can have the video ref at every game. No games would clash. Everyone would have variety. Would this get RL more money or about the same? Would it be better to have more fixtures for the same-ish money and build that up? Doesn't the Aviva Premiership have 4 games a weekend despite having lower TV figures?

| in terms of television coverage it would be good to see the tv packages split just like premiership football - whether that be two or three packages (1 game each per SL round) is arguable but it should be no more than that
i would enjoy a Sunday night game preceded by a highlights package of the other six games, particularly on free to air television
exposure to a larger audience should be balanced against income, increased sponsor revenue would surely result from a regular slot on FTA
unfortunately the international game seems to be thrown in with TV deals rather than negotiated separately - the world cup should be on free to air though, i hope that is sorted out as having the world cup on sky would be a disaster

| Quote: Toulouse for super L "There was actually a big increase last time the TV rights were negotiated 3 years ago, this allowed for the increase in the number of teams from 12 to 14. If we can get a significant increase again, would people rather increase the number of teams further? Or increase the amount each club recieves?'"
No more teams. The number of players that club produce needs to increase the quality of conditioning/coaching and players needs to improve quite considerably before we even think about adding more teams.
Increase the amount each club receives. Clubs need as much cash as possible.
The new TV deal and sponsors should tell us all where we stand as a sport.

| actually, if the RFL can get an increase in funding then I think they should keep it from the SL clubs and use it for central funding, for the good of the game at all levels

| All I can guarantee,is that whatever is negotiated, the ill informed on here will shout and complain that its an utter disgrace and that they could have negotiated twice the amout, this dispite the fact that the RFL employ the leading media agency. The comments on here and other sites are truely ludicrous - and I look at the BARB figures every week, not just for the occassional 'big' game.
