| Still hardly anyone has congratulated Cas without the word 'but' following or something to demean their achievement after 14 pages of waffle.

Compared to previous seasons where we've had pages and pages of Cas fans congratulating LLS winners?

| Well I for one congratulate our local rivals on a great achievement.
It's a big deal. Celebrate as much as you like......who cares what a small minority of fans from some big clubs that got used to keeping the silverware for themselves think.
Assuming Wakefield don't get to the GF, I hope Cas win it. It's a victory for the little clubs.
I have to say, is it any wonder that we get poor media coverage and poor perception outside our game when a team that have gone against the odds and won the league is criticised for celebrating and more so told that the trophy is just a hub cap and it means nothing. Why would anyone try to publicise our game when we think it's nothing. Beggars belief.

| I suppose we should do a Leeds instead and cry and celebrate over knocking a stand down to rebuild one in the exact same place. Nobody's talking about that!!
Before anyone says "it's because they have so much history there"
Yeh they do.... At Headingley, not in the bloody south stand.
That seems to be fine. But we ain't allowed to celebrate winning the LLS. Some of you fans putting it down are a joke. Simple.

| I don't really get all th bickering over this. From a Castleford point of view it is certainly a great achievement and worth a bottle or two of fizz. I don't mean any disrespect by this but clubs such as Wigan, Leeds and St Helens have a been there done that attitude and are only really interested in what is (whether you agree it should be or not) the big prize.
In short, well done Cas, and if my team don't make the top 4 I hope there's a new name on the Trophey whoever it may be.

| Congratulations Cas, it is a great achievement that will long be celebrated by your fans. Winning the LLS is, without doubt, the sign of the most consistent and best team in the comp. If only there was some way of it comming after the Grand Final and it would be treated with the respect that it deserves.

You're losing the plot.
This needy attitude where you're craving adulation from other sets of fans is a bit pathetic. Just celebrate it & enjoy it, don't worry about what praise you do & don't get from other fans.

| Not read the last 15 pages, and I'm not going to, but looking back at the last couple of pages - who cares?
Fantastic achievement by Cas this year, to be as consistent as they have been all year and guaranteeing themselves the LLS with games to spare - well done them! Lets just hope they carry on that through the rest of the playoffs, get to the GF and win it, proving that consistency does really pay off!

| Quote: FlexWheeler "No one's saying don't enjoy it. Just don't expect adulation from everyone else because no one cares.'"
We don't. But we don't like people being petty and throwing out excuses such as 'it's because everyone else is bad' or 'the standard is dropping', or telling us 'it's not important', 'no one remembers the LLS winners' or 'that it is meaningless'. Just because your own sides have gone backwards shouldn't lessen the achievement, particularly when opposition fans have taken great pleasure over the years of telling us we have bang average players who no one else wants, or who is 'good but he's no X....'.
Quote: FlexWheeler "Hull were relegated (or demoted or whatever the f%ck happened when the league split in 95) '"
They finished in the bottom half and so formed part of the 2nd division along with 3/4 other clubs in the restructure. In a time the game wasn't full-time. They haven't lost half their team as a result or had to risk everything to get back into SL, where the money is. Of those teams in the 2nd division, 4 of them are now in Super League. Though they did have financial difficulties, the merger saved them and in fact even could be argued was the catalyst for the club today.
So yeah, maybe, but I don't think the impact would be half as big as it is now. I've only thrown Hull in because they've really turned against us this season for whatever reason, and that's sad. However, they've spent megabucks over the past decade on average Aussies and got nowhere. Their angst towards us seems to be on the fact that the media have waxed lyrical about our style of play and they're upset they haven't got credit for knocking us out of a one-off cup tie. It's bizarre.
Quote: FlexWheeler "
Wigan nearly in 2006,'"
Nearly. Not did. They didn't struggle or sell off their own players. Instead that flagrantly broke the salary cap in order to stay up.
Quote: FlexWheeler "leeds in 96 and to a lesser extent last year.'"
Again. Didn't and didn't.
Quote: FlexWheeler "Your examples are terrible BTW. '"
So terrible your responses are 'nearly', 'nearly' and...erm, 'nearly'.
Quote: FlexWheeler "Cocky classy cas, when will they learn?'"
Where are we cocky? No one ever started this season out expecting us to win the LLS. We've enjoyed this season and we're proud of our achievement. The only people cocky are the ones knocking us, who believe they have a divine right to be at the top and anyone else who does get near the top is down to others being bad, not the side being good.

Exactly this. Many questions are asked about why the game isn't bigger than it is or why it isn't promoted as much as it should be. The simple answer is we don't deserve it.
For me the Grand Final has never felt like anything but a gimmick and the 'champions' tag is a tad cringeworthy. Sure I'd celebrate if my team won it but I'd much rather see them lift the Challenge Cup at Wembley. As for the league leaders shield, it gets nowhere near the respect it deserves.

| The GF is a gimmick at the end of the day, to try and make something different for the sport, and stand out compared to others (i.e. football).
Problem we've had over the last few years is that the teams finishing top in the league and winning the LLS haven't always gone on to win the GF, which is why fans from the rest of the teams are never overly concerned about finishing top because it doesn't matter as long as they win the GF - and why other teams fans will always put winning the LLS down to fans of the team that does win it.
I do agree however, that something more could/should be made of it, but just like the NRL or NFL, doesn't matter how you do through the weekly rounds, the focus is all on that one big final!

You can and should celebrate it but they way some are going on about it you'd think we should just cancel the GF and give Cas the main trophy now.
All this Cas will be the true champions even if they don't win the GF BS, we all know that if roles were reversed and you won from 2nd-4th plenty of points behind you wouldn't be calling the LLS the champions.
The LLS is a good achievement but it doesn't become a greater achievement this year just because of who won it and how.
As for Leeds yes they had an occasion LAST WEEK for the South Stand. This giving Cas credit and making out the LLS is the bigger prize nonsense has been going all most of the season as soon as Cas opened up a gap at the top.

| There wouldnt be all this wailing and gnashing of teeth, if Cas fans hadn't abanonded their own board in favour of the echo chamber forum they created for themselves; since they've found success and come out from hiding, the only place to get any reaction is on here, which naturally invites comment from fans of other clubs, who don't seem to be showing the required amount of adulation - and that's upsetting some Cas folk.
Personally, I think the LLS is a great achievement for them - given where they've come from; it may well mean less to clubs who have higher expectations, but it's all relative I guess. If they go on to win the GF, then they can demand some eating of words - but expecting supporters of other clubs to celebrate this with the same vigour as them is tilting at windmills; it's not what happens, especially on the VT, where snark is the main currency.

| The thread was started because of what DP said regards the value of the LLS and his belief of it being a better achievement than going on to win the GF, it was not started as a Cas appreciation thread although the vast majority of people on here have actually congratulated Cas in spades for a great season so far, so i can't see why some Cas fans are dummy spitting TBH.
