In no other major sport could a team from another country be allowed to enter its premier division after two seasons in its lower league in fact 3 years since the club was formed.Whats happening with the Super League at present is making us a laughing stock and the fact that they have not officially announced what is happening next season yet is beyond belief.
I am not an anti expansionist and have nothing against Toronto but SL clubs will soon wake up to the fact their is only one winner and it wont be them,if Toronto get promoted I hope they sign every top player going and walk away with SL,it will be just deserts for the selfish SL Directors who only care about their clubs and not a jot about RL in the UK.'"
I dont know if you are right her.
Toronto were encouraged to join the league by Nigel Wood and after lots of comments about it not being right for them to start in the Championship or, Super League, they joined the third tier.
After the farce of having big spenders in the third tier, they gained promotion and no look to be serious challengers for a SL spot.
Personally, I'm still unsure what they add to the competition and the logistics are far from straight forward but, assuming that it isn't scrapped, they will need to abide by the salary cap.
Their inclusion does have the potential to spawn some N.American players but, this will certainly take some time and IF they are successful, it could help develop another RL playing nation, which can only be a good thin.
If they succeed then great but, right now, there is a long, long way to go.
As for anti Leigh bias, I just dont get it.
The reality is that Leigh are promotion chasers and have everything in place to play at SL level but, just like Toronto, they dont have a divine right to do so.
You are spot on about some SL directors being selfish and this will never change and a half decent governing body would be able to find the right balance for developing the game for the benefit of all and not just for the few.
Currently RL is going backwards, falling further and further behind both the NRL and Union and with no plan to halt the reverse in fortunes, which is why they are clutching at straws and hoping that N.America will save us, which seems very unlikely.
