| Its a really hard time to get serious money for sponsorship right now given the economic climate. Having said that, these things ought to be sorted out well in advance - at least a year ahead.

Probably call it the BF Superleague, a bit like what they do in RU with the H Cup.

| Can call it what they want in France no one over there has any idea of Betfair. At least with H Cup everyone knows its a well know Dutch beer that is available in lots of bars in France.

As far as I know there is nothing preventing the advertising of gambling services following the legislation of online gambling in France in 2010. I could be wrong, but I know that advertising campaigns have occured there before and I don't know how it might affect the Super League if it was called the Betfair Super League.
I'm surprised there have been pages and pages about Eddie Stobart, yet Betfair emerges and it goes dead. Betfair are a massive company and this would be wonderful news for Rugby League. My only concern would be in the impact this might have on other firms such as William Hill who have a strong presence in RL, and they may pull out.

| Hmm interesting.
Maybe they have registered domain names for potential sponsors to save any problems after announcements.
Betfair would be a great sponsor. Two big names touted so far, I wonder if anyone else is interested
Or maybe it's just to stop people thinking it's Stobart until it's announced....

| The RFL own at least 49 domain names so there's probably more companies in there

If they are that bothered they have a choice and can become the main sponsor

Drinking & smoking has been legal in France for centuries, they're still prevented from advertising at sports events though

And? You are getting a bit of a reputation for selective quoting aren't you?

That site seems to say that it is OK to advertise gambling in France.
[i"Advertising on the internet continued much as it did before, but there was a huge rise in television advertising. There was also the first outdoor advertising campaign."[/i

How do you mean "pull out"? As in stop offering bets on Super League?
If so, Ladbrokes sponsor the PDC World Championships, but SkyBet, William Hill, etc. still offer bets for it.
If you mean they'd stop sponsoring RL or working with RL clubs, then possibly. I'd think it depends more on the deal that BetFair would have with Super League rather than the other providers wanting to pull out. BetFair may want to be the providers at all SL clubs as part of the deal.

What are the odds on that being the case?
