Figures supplied by Initiative Sports Futures, an independent ratings company whom I am sure you are aware of, found the figure who watched the 2007 ruwc final to be a more realistic 33million.

There are other discrepancies with the irb methodology as well. The use of the phrase potential reach to mean actual or live reach and stating that the 2007 went live into 238 Countries being the most obvious.
I am surprised that a person involved with marketing doesn’t know how potential reach is guestimated. Would you/ do you put any faith in the culmulative figures? Should they include re-runs, repeats and, so Im told, snippets shown on the TV news ?.
The ruwc is getting good numbers and yet the irb feel the need to lie, so badly. Maybe you could ask your clients to find out why.
Anyhoo, it appears that Dally was quite correct to suggest the 2007 ruwc final had a television audience of just over 30 million. |

weve finally dispelled the IRB BS of 4 billion and from hereon we should use the figure of 30 - 40 million as the real one

Thanks for that. It does go some way to removing the smoke and mirrors used, not just by the IRB, but many other sports organisations and the TV networks that show them.......but obviously not far enough to stop the global brands like VISA throwing money at the game of Union.

actually no, joedynamo hasn't dispelled anything.......and the fact that you said "we" shows you up as being a bit sad.
What we have here is an article that states it is pretty much impossible for 4 billion to have watched the RUWC......and the irony is, the thread that this article has been posted  9,000,000 <SNIGGER>

There is a poster on here though why HAS CLAIMED 9,000,000 as a viewing figure for an NRL promotional trailer......maybe you should try to have a pop at him.  |

so....RL uses a different system to declare viewing figures 
I am going to get one of my staff to check on the major brand sponsors for the NRL teams, the S15 teams and all the international Rugby teams of both codes.....now, I don't want to jump the gun here, but I reckon I know the result
