100% Hull FC -part of thebrotherhood of Rugby League, The Best Game in the World to watch.: |
|
| Quote: AdmiralHanson "I actually want Welsh team(s) in the competition .... But, like London, the RFL have messed up again.
The problem is placing ONE team in a particular area, when actually you should be placing TWO teams in Wales. The most logical conurbations would be Swansea and Cardiff.
Ever wondered why Bradford Vs Leeds or Wigan Vs Saints etc. get the biggest crowds ... That's right, they're local derbies. The sort of game that is talked over at the workplace on the Monday morning, the one where families are divided and where you can have bragging rights over the people around you. How can you have a 'local rival' that is in the case of London over 180 miles away ?
It also just happens that Swansea and Cardiff hate the sight of each other in sporting events too, assuring a good crowd ....'" .......
Your argument is blown straight out of the water by quoting the most crowds are for "derbies such as Brats v Loiners or Saints v Pie eaters-being from towns apart from each other-- I suggest you check the attendances for the best Derby in League .....the HULL derby between the FC and HKR.
No, maybe Crusaders should try playing for a true League appreciation attendance and relocate to one of the Cumbrian clubs -with the dosh the've squandered in the last few years, it's about time Sky stopped trying to 'expand' to r.union heartlands and started to see where their real heartland is.
Widnes fans will see the benefit of having Saints playing in Widnes until their own stadium is ready to occupy and maybe then the RFL will at last give Widnes the Welcome to SL they always deserved.
It's only common sense, but then again, since when have our leaders shown any of that.......grannyfan Cindy

What makes you think there's an audience for SL in Cumbria any bigger than the one there is in Wrexham?
Workington were an outright failure in the first season in SL, Haven are mired in financial difficulties and Barrow have hardly been setting attendance records despite having one of the best teams outside SL on the field.
None of those clubs are in a position to support a SL franchise of their own, so why relocate one to their area - isn't that exactly what you're arguing against?

| Quote: Slugger McBatt "The due diligence thing applies to the new owners, and if the problems are to do with the old owners then I'm not sure how that would affect anything.
The statement on the website isn't the most confident. Although it states that they were not in administration "last night", it doesn't rule it out for the future, and only says that a statement will be released in the future.
Maybe administration wouldn't be a bad thing, as they could get rid of the Samuels legacy and start afresh, although it would deny them the Super League in 2012.'"
That's what I meant yea, they can't really just say it was all racked up by former owner as legally it's there debt now. If they didn't know it was all there then due diligence was at fault on behalf of new owners etc.
Agreed was hardly a confident 'we are working to solve issues' statement.
It wouldn't be a bad thing but would 99% ensure they drop out of SL in next two years which gives the RFL an issue as they couldn't leave this (if occurs) and either relegate one side or not promote anyone.

Barrow for Super League 2015: |
|
| Quote: Andy Gilder "What makes you think there's an audience for SL in Cumbria any bigger than the one there is in Wrexham?
Barrow have hardly been setting attendance records despite having one of the best teams outside SL on the field.
Quote: Andy Gilder "]
Crusaders posted 5 attendances under 3,000 this season including 2 under 1,500. This despite finishing in the playoffs. Their season average is was boosted out of all recognition by the free tickets dished out. This has ultimately been their downfall - not enough income. You also have to remember that had they not fielded 6 illegal immigrants whilst in NL2, they would never have been promoted to NL1 and therefore wouldn't have been eligible to apply for a SL license.
Although Barrow's crowds went down this season (mainly due to inconsistent performances and increased admission prices), the club is run at a profit and there are no freebies to artificially boost attendances (unlike several Champioship clubs). The club is also re-building its' fanbase after 20 years in the doldrums.
The RFL will surely soon see through these false attendance figures, almost free season tickets and non-existant new stadia.
A Cumbrian SL club would compete very well on the field and many people would be surprised at how well supported the team would be.

| Blackpool? Could be classed as an expansion based on Wrexhams relative location. Oh no, it looks like they have folded

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.
