| Quote: crucrucrusaders "The number still has to be confirmed yet.
It is a strong rumour that the rugby league club have outsold the football club for season tickets though which is good whatever way you look at it.'"
Wrexham FC are in the Blue Square conference and last time I checked the table they were about 15th. They are rubbish. If what you say is true (there might always be a first time) I wouldn't be that surprised if the Crusaders are attracting more interest than one of the worst football teams in the country. The people of north wales are desperate to find a team that might start winning something.
If only Leeds had relocated there instead of Celtic

| Quote: dally messenger "stupid RFL bloody making the game a laughing stock.
when will they learn expansion never works'"
According to Cru these figures have yet to be verified, however, if they are anything like then what this does prove is that the way the RFL have gone about expansion in the past does not work.
However, the more conservative, steady away extending the heartlands borders in small steps, building on the latent support for the game just outside the heartlands (advocated by a number of us "flatcappers"icon_wink.gif clearly does.
The conclusion we can draw is that given the right location a fan base for a new SL club can be created virtually overnight. Lets not forget, in Wrexham there has not been years of RFL financed coaching in schools or promotion from the club. This has been a low cost, high return excercise, which should put the nail in the coffin of the ludicrous approach of planting teams in non RL areas and hoping it all works out.
Hopefully a few hundred of those new fans will also travel, at least into Lancashire putting real extra money into the clubs in that area, a massive positive for the game as a whole.

only 800 tickets left with 3 days to go, is brilliant. I doubt any other team in the league will acheive this for the first game, especially if its televised.

True.
There were 17,800 at Paris v Sheffield.

I see your point, but what I am impressed with particularly is the quoted (unverified) sales of season tickets in excess of 1600. That is pretty amazing given the circumstances.

1,600 season ticket holders would be good and, assuming they are anything like full price sales, would be a promising sign for the future.

Definately so much better than having the club based in South Wales.
At least one positive about Wrexham is that it's ALMOST in England and therefore not so far to travel

Newport's less than 20 miles from England. Hardly a trek is it petal?

An excellent figure, hopefully they will like what they see.

Currently 10,500 - apparently the uncovered end is closed 'pending redevelopement'.
